Koyi's has been our favorite sushi restaurant in Minnesota for the past 7 years. The sushi menu is excellent. Some of my favorites are salmon carpacio, number 9 roll and salmon tempura roll. Our service has always been excellent and the sushi chef is very friendly. I have tried 90 percent of the local sushi restaurants and I feel that Koyi sushi is far superior to their competion.
Pros: Best Sushi in the Twin Cities

I have a fairly good background in sushi, and most of my friends thought I was rather strange for going for seafood so far inland, but the food was great! My boyfriend had never had sushi before and while he is not a full blown convert, he was really impressed.
The food came out quickly, the staff was friendly, the atmosphere was comfortable, and the taste was incredible! I totally recommend the salmon tempura roll, absolutely delicious.

Koyi sushi is one of my top favorite sushi restaurants. I always have great service here, the sushi is always fresh with great presentation. The restaurant has good ambience, nice music and a great happy hour to boot! Happy hour is 5-7:30 I believe and has $4.25 sushi rolls and cheap drinks. I highly recommend Koyi and love to go here in small or big groups. Try out the white tuna, it melts in your mouth! Num!
Pros: Pretty much everything about this place.
Cons: Parking, either find a meter or park in the ramp nearby.

I had a fine experience at Koyi Sushi. The sushi was fresh and delicious and the service was up to par. My companion ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and our waitress came back and told us that they were out, on a Thursday night- that was disappointing on many levels. They have some creative rolls, and while I didn't try them all, they sound wonderful. I generally see a full restaurant as a good thing, Koyi Sushi was pretty empty so I was a bit concerned; I figured being a Thursday night had something to do with that. All in all, if you are near Koyi, stop in and try a roll or two- I don't really see a reason to go out of your way to try Koyi Sushi as there are many other sushi restaurants to try first, but don't put it off your list if you are looking for a new sushi experience in Minneapolis.
Pros: great location in Minneapolis, good sushi

We went to Koyi after reading such good reviews online. Honestly we were disappointed with all aspects of this place. The first hint should have been when the appetizers came out within seconds of ordering. The edamame tasted like dishwater and as though it had been sitting out for hours. The sushi was FAR from fresh and the rice was mush. The spicy tuna roll was deplorable. The tuna looked like it came out of a can and was covered in God knows what spices which soaked into the rice signaling that it had been sitting there for hours. We left without finishing any of the food and let the staff subtly know how poor the experience was. Not that we expected anything, but the waitress seemed emotionless about our complaints and obviously didn't relay our feelings to the management. If she did no one took notice. There is nothing worse than a terrible sushi experience. Spend the extra $$ and go to Nami or Azia. The only good part about Koyi is that it is directly across the street from Pizza Luce, which is where we ended up eating and drinking away the Koyi experience.
Pros: Pizza luce across the street
Cons: everything

We were very impressed with Koyi Sushi. We definitely got alot of sushi for the price. We ordered two specialty rolls and two other smaller rolls and we were stuffed! Total was about $45. The shrimp tempura roll was awesome. We got there early so there was no problem getting a table, but before we left the place was full. Overall, a great place, great atmosphere, and great sushi! We will be coming back again.

I've been to Koyi three times and will continue to go back!! The wait staff can be a tad slow, so keep that in mind if you need to be somewhere after dinner at a precise time- but for a leisurely meal, it is most excellent! I highly recommend the 'Marylin Monroll"!!!!!
Pros: Options and cute ambiance
Cons: If in a rush, wait staff can be a bit slow
