What can be even more fun than a library? When the Library sells off their overstock in books for a good cause! This is soooo much fun to get lost in and spend all your money. Actually, very well priced, this is a treasure trove of used and rare books. Plus the funds go towards library upkeep which is fast declining in Minneapolis-- a very good cause to support.

Minnepolis recently opened a brand new library in the heart of downtown. It is beautiful. It is the King or Queen of all libraries. The library is a total information hub. I love that they also celebrated Minnesota's beauty by decorating different rooms according to the four different seasons. The library is laid out well, but help is easy to find if needed. Take a look at the east side of the outside of the building; it's stunning.

Of course now they are working on the new building so it's not what it once was, but traditionally, this is THE best library in Minneapolis. By far the most extensive, most accessible and user friendly. I have always enjoyed the features to look books up online and have them waiting at whichever library you wanted to go to and the selection is great.
I have grown frustrated with MPLS's libraries because they only have 3 north of Dwtn-- one of which [North] has been closed for 2 years for remodeling, the other two are pitifully small [Webber & NE]. South Mpls has been blessed with uh.........8 is it? Dwtn used to be the best and will be again soon but in the mean time us northern folks are kinda stuck ;)
It would be wonderful if there were more or better equipped libraries around.

The New Downtown is the prize of the Minneapolis public library system. It is gorgeous, huge and a GREAT place to utilize-----if you want to go downtown for a library every time you go.
The rest of Minneapolis Public Libraries leave much to be desired. The locations are scarce-especially North Side. The ONE opperating one in North Minneapolisis Webber Park and it is so miniscule you will pass it if you blink. Their building old and mostly outdated. The selection--well all of it seems to be downtown now! I really wish someone would put more effort into Minneapolis's actual community libraries.
We usually use the Hennipen County Libraries because they are much better stocked, nicer and more convenient locations for their library buildings.
