I have been going to Chino since they opened. The quality of the food has changed over the years, the blackberry mohito martini has less puree than it used to, and it caters more the the suburb crowd but it stil is Chino Latino. They need to open up locations in SF, Chicago, and NYC if you ask me.
The service can be touch and go but what I have learned is that the severs are trained to be sassy, and sometimes they get too busy to provide five star service but I have never had terrible service. They are fun and they will interact with your group. We bring groups in often on weeknights and the service tends to be a little more attentive. Make sure you try the specialty drinks, and don't be afraid to share.
Things to try:
Salt And Pepper Shrimp now known as Chino Style Shrimp Feast
Queso Fundido
Elote
Shrimp Curry
Mushi Beef
Black Laab
Smores
Volcano Cup
Pros: No other resturant like it
Cons: Loud and hard to get a table on the weekends

I admit that we was scared to go there, BUT IS THE ONLY PLACE INT TOWN MAKE PAELLAS. the place is really beatifull, the dinner area is separade of the bar are, so we have a quiet dinner, with good foo, the only that the waitress inform us that they make all fresh and we have to wait one hour for the paella, because for this dish we need to make a reservation. The was nothing when we eat this YUMMMMMMMMY FOOD, RICH AND TASTY, SAVORY THAT REMEMBER US YEAR AGO IN SPAIN. After that we stay for dance a litler bit and i learn to dance regeton, bachata and meremgue AT NO COST, because the cover is free when you make dinner. The restaurant service wasnt bad, but the bar service was excelent. The pretty dominican girl (angela) take care of us was so respectful and know a lot about drink, we doesnt have to think a lot about what we want to drink because she give us the direction. She make awesome drink for my group, a terrific martini and nice tropical cocktail. After that went we decide to go and pay she ask us about if we a need a cab and give us a freee water( house act) that nice things about bartenders!!!!!!!!!!care about customer.
SO WE COME BACK AGAIN.
PS we no saw any cop issue and we stay till closed.

If your palate was satisfied by the industrial-sized canned food of Sweet Lorraines, then, yes. The fresh, msg-free food of Citizen may taste bland to you. Comparing Citizen to Sweet Lorraines is like comparing The Wedge to the corner Kwik Mart, the farmer's market to vending machine sandwiches. My advice is to ignore all the reviews and judge it for yourself. Here is my impression: The muffins were moist and flavorful without being too sweet and heavy. The homemade jam was an illuminating tribute to raspberries. The french toast was soft and comforting on the inside with a delicate crisp on the outside. The pulled pork was juicy and uniquely flavorful. Not a tin can in sight. And the entire bill was less than $15!!
Pros: Fresh food prepared perfectly and reasonably priced.
Cons: Only tables, no booths. But the chairs were very comfy.
