I enjoy a good sake, and this place has got an amazing selection. Go during happy hour and get a ton of appetizers and a flight of sake, you will be happy you did. Their cranberry cream cheese wontons are out of this world as is all of their other food. We just order one of each on the menu in a large group and pass things around family style. I love the decor and service as well!
Pros: great ambiance, fantastic food
Cons: sake was pricey, parking is scarce

I went to Origami with a group of friends. When we go there it was pretty slow but it got busier around 8pm. The sushi was very fresh and there were a lot of options and specialty rolls. Service was a bit slow when we wanted to order a few more rolls. Green tea ice cream was excellent but maybe too small of a portion. Overall, cool atmosphere, cool neighborhood, I would definitley go back.
Pros: Good Food, Good Ambience
Cons: Service was a bit slow

I was a little weary trying Ichibans. I've gone to Benihanas before and was really disappointed, and after reading jjn867's comment, I got worried it was going to be just like Benihanas. I'm am so glad that I didn't pay attention to that review. Ichibans is THE BEST!!! The food was wonderful! My husband and I both had the Superior (came with everything) and our kids had the kids meals. Ichibans is now our family's favorite restaurant! Our chef was so funny and very entertaining... my kids are still asking me if they can try the egg trick! This is definately a place you need to try for yourself and make your own decision. Personally... I LOVE IT!!!
Pros: Great chef, beautiful atmosphere, awsome service
Cons: Parking

I've been going to this Tango for about a year since I moved to Minneapolis and I love it. The staff is wonderful and the sushi is always top quality and done to perfection.
The happy hour is a good deal as well. Keep up the good work, guys!
Pros: Delicious sushi and non-sushi items.
Cons: They need to open earlier on weekdays.

It seems as though you are the kind of person to rant about something in a restaurant in order to get free food... How unfortunate. You missed out. If you weren't being so crabby then you would have been able to experience everything that Nami has to offer. Their staff is wonderful, and caters to your every need.
Also, was it really necessary to use the "race" card, and state the gentlemans name? I don't think so.
Karma.

My husband and I live close to Benihana in Golden Valley and we dine there about once a month (in fact, we were there last night). I agree with a couple of the other comments about lackluster customer service, as they don't have the most accommodating staff. That said, I think people need to go here expecting to have all members of your party ready to be seated at the same time; it makes sense to me, if you show up with 5 people and are waiting on 1 more, don't expect the other couple at your table to sit there and wait for your 6th to show before they can order...welcome to communal eating, folks. Benihana is usually a hectic place, so I guess I understand why they are a little rough around the edges when it comes to seating people. My husband and I go as a twosome often and NEVER have a problem getting in, even when it's busy. We've also gone dozens times with large groups, which, on occasion, is a little more complicated. Overall, I've found that if you're extra nice to the staff and expect that things can move a little slow here, you won't get all bent out of shape. My opinion is that the food and the chefs are totally worth any drama you get from the hosts or servers. And here's a hint, act like you're interested in the show. Clap for them when they do a trick! Give them a little something to let them know you're engaged and they'll pay you back in spades. The food is consistently very good, and believe me when I say we've had just about everything on the menu. Here's another hint: be assertive with the chef. Let them know how you like your filet cooked or if you want extra shrimp sauce. They'll take care of you! Feel free to joke around with them and you'll have a lot more fun. My favorites include the fried rice, shrimp, scallops, filet, lobster, the onion/zucchini side dish, tuna steak, and of course, the SHRIMP SAUCE. My final hint: pour the shrimp sauce on your fried rice...you won't be sorry=)
Pros: Great food, fun dinner show, lots of free parking, nice bar area to wait in
Cons: May have to wait for a table, have to be patient with host staff

Koyi's has been our favorite sushi restaurant in Minnesota for the past 7 years. The sushi menu is excellent. Some of my favorites are salmon carpacio, number 9 roll and salmon tempura roll. Our service has always been excellent and the sushi chef is very friendly. I have tried 90 percent of the local sushi restaurants and I feel that Koyi sushi is far superior to their competion.
Pros: Best Sushi in the Twin Cities

I have only been home for a couple weeks after living in Japan for 8 years. I was excited to see that there was a Japanese restaurant within walking distance of my house. It is nicely decorated with easy parking. I ate lunch today, the tempura and sushi combination. Both were excellent. The tempura is the best I have had in the States. Light and not at all greasy. The side vegetables, pickles and salad were genuine. The tea is excellent. I had the premium Gyokuro tea. The cook told me they originally were going to just open a tea shop, but the space and location made a restaurant possible. So they are interested in serving premium Japanese and Chinese tea. They also use organic vegetables. Prices are reasonable.
The staff is very friendly and so are the owners. Service was fast. I do not have to be "homesick" for Japanese food, a nice walk from my home.
Pros: Food, Staff, Owners/cook/cheif
Cons: I would like to have breakfast there too.
