This Ikea store by the Mall of Americas was so much fun to go into. It was our first time to one. We didn't know it had a place to buy food. We shopped some and then sat down to eat. The shopping was really fun to get ideas, but the food was super cheap. I think is was $2 for breakfast. I'll go again!

This store is great. I have always had the MOST PLEASANT dealings with everyone that works there. I think some of the other reviewers are exaggerating or have some other kind of grudge to bear which I can't understand because I have been going there for years and everyone is always friendly.
The merchandise is great---furniture, accessories, cards and it is always fun to go in and see what is new because the owner does a great job of updating the stock with new trend merchandise from the gift shows. Go to go Home!! You'll be glad you did.
Pros: Unique things you can't find anywhere else
Cons: None

This is a great place. They have everything you need to re-decorate your bedroom and bathroom... and beyond! They have tons of different styles of comforter, appliances, towels, and more! The staff is very friendly and helpful and helping you find what you need. It's a little pricey, but if you find something you like there, it's hard to turn it down!

I first went here with my daughter and we had a wonderful time.
This is a small ceramics studio where you can paint an item of you choice right there in the studio. Items they have to select from are: small/large plates, cups, large and small bowls, picture frames, decorative boxes/dishes and much more.
You only pay for the item you buy - prices start at $8 and can rise considerably depending on how big of a piece you select. Me and my daughter chose a cup and a plate and spent under $20.
There are many styles/colors of glazes to choose from as well as brushes of all sizes and other tools to create paint effects on your masterpiece.
They have actual tiles that have been fired of all the glaze colors, so you can get an idea of what the colors will look like (the paint looks very different fired than it does fresh from the bottle.)
You can take as long as you like to make your creation. When your done, you need put your name on the back of the item and will have to come back in a day or so to pick it up. If your driving a distance to get here, this can be a bother.
I really appreciate the help that we received from the staff on techniques using the paint/tools, it was very helpful. They also have examples of items that are finished out in the open and in books, so you can get more creative ideas of what you would like to create.
This is something that you can do alone, with a friend or with a group. They had a birthday party group of 6 girls while were there - they were having a blast!

fantastic store! Well worth the trip to get there. Very cool and unusual gifts. Not you typical chain store items like at patina and bibelot. The owner has an uncanny eye for the unusual. Staff is very friendly and passionate about the art they carry. The potter Bob is talented and I have never known anyone who has not loved his work. I personally love the great mix of affordable jewelry. Truly a great find. Love this place! I don't shop anywhere else.

If you sew I suggest visting Hancock Fabrics in Bloomington in the Southtown shopping center. They carry an extensive supply of notions and supplies as well as fabric, home decorating essentials and quilting stuff. It is not as large as a Joann superstore but I have found that if a certain item is not available at the large, popular chain stores I am likely to find it at this smaller craft store. Recently I was on the hunt for a magnetic snap used in making purses and tote bags and I could not find it anywhere. On a whim I drove over to Hancock's and they had plenty and in several finishes! They are known to have some great deals on patterns. I have purchased many different brands during their $1 promotions. They also send out coupons if you sign up for their circular. This is a great store for those who sew!

More
Driving through its namesake neighborhood along Ceder Avenue in Minneapolis, it's hard to miss Phillips Garden. It sports a giant 35 foot fish sculpture in the front, a garage converted into a coffee shop/landscaping firm in the middle, and lovely nursery area in back.
High end landscaping design is their specialty-they also used to have a coffee shop and plant store on-site-but as of the spring of 2005, they have decided to focus solely on beautifying our yards, instead of caffeinating our bodies.
Their design services are top notch-all Philips Garden designers have advanced graduate degrees, and the prices for their services aren't as much as you would expect for the quality of their work.
