Maplewood Location - off White Bear Ave. - next to Rainbow Foods.
I went in today to discuss my billing plan and spoke to the owner herself. Immediately upon telling her I wasn't satisfied with what I was paying; she quickly changed the subject to my health, completely disregarding me. When I called her upon it, she began hostile. I canceled my membership on the spot. I then told her I would be complaining and she disrespectfully told me, "Good luck, there's no one higher than me. I'm the owner." I informed her I would write on the internet about the horrible service I received, and she coldly and mockingly barked at me as I was leaving, "Have a nice day, SIR."
Their facility is not even that nice - there aren't showers or a pool/basketball court/etc.
There is zero chance I would ever sign up again.

I just canceled my membership at Grayslake Fitness 19, it cost $250.00 and it was money well spent! Poor "babysitter" services. You are daily harassed by trainers trying to get you to sign up for sessions. Membership packages are bogus. They made promises of things included in your sign up package and when I tried to collect they gave me the run around, on the day I cancelled I confronted them on it AGAIN I was told I didn't pay for it because it was included. Once they have your money they don't care because... NO REFUNDS!

Fitness 19 is an awesome alternative to fancy shmancy health clubs. They don't have a locker room, but they do have changing rooms, which resemble the handicap dressing rooms at department stores, they work just fine for getting work out ready. They don't have a pool, but if you are going to work out, how often do you REALLY use the pool? Other than that, they have everything that Lifetime or Northwest have. They have a trainer "Bob the Builder" they call him (very clever). They have all of the work out equipment you could need, including cardio, free weights, balance balls for core work outs, resistance training machine, just about anything. The staff is great and very friendly and every type of person comes here. You don't have to feel like you are on display at Fitness 19. Everyone there is coming to workout and go home. They aren't there for a competition or to judge. They are there for the same reason you are, to get in shape or stay in shape. I went as a guest with a friend and plan on joining this week.
