A very solid neighborhood cafe located next to the Southwest Minneapolis lake district provides amply satisfying breakfast and brunch menus. Everybody groans contently with the prospect of Zumbro wild rice buckwheat pancakes. Egg dishes and frittatas also hit the spot coupled with potatoes and meat sides. All sit well before or after a walk around the lakes whether it be spring, fall or rain or shine. The cafe also serves salads, homemade soups and pastas as the morning progresses. On the backside of their restaurant, the door that faces out onto Upton Ave, you will find a walk up/take out for buying a pastry and cup of coffee if you prefer mimimal service and the grab and run.

Zipp’s is a great liquor store. It has a huge variety of booze and very low prices. If you are looking to buy a keg, this is the place. It has many times the varieties of kegs that any other store in the metro does, and if you go on the right day you can find out-of-season, top-end beers at around 50% the cost. Beyond kegs, it has a good beer and wine selection. It also carries several types of Japanese sake, which is pretty rare in these parts. Its selection is pretty comparable to the high-end liquor stores in the area, but the atmosphere and prices are not.

Zeno is a coffee shop/cafe/bakery/wine bar in uptown Minneapolis. It is trendy as all get up, so a great place to possibly meet someone, for the single folk. Aside from the great decor and trendiness, it really does have excellent food. The food is very interesting, not boring. They have good sandwiches and a wonderful breakfast as well. Or, just have one of their fabulous desserts and a glass of wine or coffee drink. The selection is so vast you will never get bored here!

I went to Zen while visiting this summer. We had a terrific meal, trying a little bit of everything on the menu. I liked the seafood dishes the best - especially the scallops with birds nest. We all shared everything family style and everybody was genuinely satisfied with each dish. It wasn't quite on the level of our favorite fusion restaurant in San Jose, but it was close. A very pleasant surprise.

Our asociation with fast food is as a recent American creation and the evolution of the hamburger in America. However, the Bento Box, a Japanese compartmental lunch box can be dated back to the Kamakura period between 1185 and 1333 in Japan when hoshi-ii or a "dried meal" was developed for workers to be carried and eaten during hanami. Those plastic trays and multi-compartment polyfoam containers had their origin in lacquered or woven bamboo box. At Zen Box located in the skyway at Six Quebec you can order bento sets and sushi rolls.
Now, a sushi purist might find better and argue but this inexpensive alternative to the burgers, pizza and subs at lunch in downtown is refershing and highly welcomed. Mix and match items like Chicken Kara-Age or Tonkatsu (stuffed pork cutlets with cheese) that double as appetizers or entries when ordered as bento box (served with rice, salad, and drink). Try the Zen Box Beef Ribs ($6.99) or Teriyaki Hamburg ($6.09) in bento sets. There sweet ginger "kamikaze" and soy sauces give their dishes the decided edge over their lunch rivals.
The owner, operator, chef team who moved here from San Francisco of Lina Goh and John Ng are friendly and a fabulous addition to downtown food faire. There are a few tables in the minimal pea green lined and vanished cement floor diner but comre prepared to take out and eat on one of the nearby outdoor plaza parks next to the Government Cener or One Financial Plaza.

Zelo is an upscale, trendy restaurant and night spot in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is located right on Nicollet Mall. They have a restaurant area, separate bar area, and outside seating in the summer months. This restaurant is beautiful and is an elegant evening out. They have excellent food, appetizers, and dessert. Best of all, they have a fantastic martini bar! This restaurant is great for people watching as well. Singles, a great place to meet someone!

Went to Zelo for our anniversary, every moment was perfect...got sat in a beautiful booth (without having to ask) Wait staff (Jeff) was attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is in search of a delightful evening.
p.s. order the pesto sea bass, it is amazing!
