I can't count the number of times I've been to Tea House, but their food has become a staple in my diet. :) I haven't met a meal there that I haven't liked. The Kung-Pao Chicken and Garlic Egg Plant is to die for. Yolanda (the owner) is amazingly nice and their staff is some of the friendliest I've seen. I would also recommend their catering. I am currently employing the Tea House to cater for my wedding and Yolanda has been extremely accommodating and helpful during the entire process; I can't wait to have their food at my reception! The reason I gave them 4 stars is because there are times when it is so busy and it seems as though they're understaffed, therefore the ordering and receiving of the food takes longer. But on the whole, Tea House is the best! :)
Pros: Such good food! Nice atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Sometimes a little understaffed for the traffic.

The tea house was my favorite spot in Twin Cities for Chinese. They are very, very close to good authentic food. I've heard that in the past they were better but the chef left. That may be some of the reason why the food has gone down. Service is good, ambience is ok and the food is close. I would go again if I was on that side of town and wanted some decent food. Avoid the buffet at all costs it "typical". Want the best, go see little szechuan. Tea House has a sister in St. Paul and it's actually authentic. My vote still goes to Little Szechuan for most authentic in the state but the sister shop to Tea House in St. Paul is a VERY close second. Keep it up guys you are still Heads above any other Chinese Restaurant for authenticity.
Pros: Better than other "average" chinese places.
Cons: Cold decor isn't very inviting.

Although I had never been to the Tea House before, I had read many good reviews. I arrived at about noon, the place was busy and I found a buffet right at the front door. I thought that the buffet would be a good way to sample the variety of foods offered. All the food I tried from the buffet was cold as were the plates and even the egg roles. All the food tasted the same even though it had different ingredients. I may try this place again on a take out basis but never again for a cold tasteless buffet.
Pros: Nice Place
Cons: Cold Food, Boring Taste

I eat at a lot of asian restaurants, and I've never been to one that has left me feeling how Tea House did.
I wanted to come back every day!
I don't know where to start! How about the vast amount of dishes, the authenticity of the Szechuan style dishes, the impeccable and prompt service, or the inviting atmosphere?
Take your pick, they've mastered it all.
In fact, I'm heading there tonight!
Don't punish yourself to eat at the greasy "Amerinese" restaurant that uses more oil than a boeing 747. Try the authentic stuff at a restaurant where the tastiness comes from spice rather than oil.
Pros: Everything!!! Flawless *****
Cons: NONE!

Authentic Chinese food, a rarity in the twin cities is delivered every day by some of the nicest wait staff anywhere. Chung King chicken is spicy hot and crisp. The boiled fish mind bending in its moistness and heat, think the Chinese version of Nobu's miso marinated cod. Garlic shredded pork is beautiful. The only thing not to order here is standard American Chinese such as sweet and sour pork or lemon chicken. It misses the mark. Stick with the Chinese menu which has depth and delivers. You'll find many Chinese patrons digging this food.
Pros: As good as it gets when you stick to the Chinese menu
Cons: not the best at American Chinese

Previously I've had some great food here -- the traditional menu was always tasty. They must have gotten some really bad chefs recently, since nothing has any flavor now. A month ago my wife ordered five-spice shrimp. They seemed to forget most of the spices. Last weekend I went with my old standby, kung pao beef, which was always nicely spicy if you ordered it off the traditional menu. It had zero flavor, so it got sent back with the specific complaint that it had zero kick. It came back with a complimentary green bean dish (which we didn't want, and didn't like), but STILL had no flavor. They didn't do anything different. If I wasn't so hungry at that point, I would have given up and left, but I just added hot sauce and dealt with it. Never again, the chefs have no clue anymore I guess. I suggest avoiding the place unless you like expensive bland Americanized Chinese food, until they hire some decent help.

Located in a tiny strip mall near a movie theater and a number of apartment complexes. Plenty of parking. The place is beautifully designed inside.... very elegant for a Chinese restaurant. The food is great, and the prices are decent for what you get. They also offer a alternate real Chinese food menu if you want to try the non-Americanized fare. And judging by the crowds, this is the real deal. I would recommend this place; it's somewhere you could take a date.
