I love the Uptown Y! It's so nice to be able to unwind. My daughter doesn't like the daycare, but I think that the staff is fabulous. She just doesn't like to be away from me. They're great in dealing with my reluctant 18 month old. We've only been members a month or so, but are very happy with out choice!

Wolfe Park has a nice pavilion building that can be rented/reserved in advance. We recently held a company picnic there, and it was perfect. It has bathrooms, and plenty of indoor space, in case of inclement weather. There is plenty of space surrounding the pavilion, for outdoor games, or just plain relaxing. There is also a playground very near, offering entertainment and fun for kids. The glass-enclosed pavilion features a fireplace and is open year round. It can seat 30 people and is available for birthday parties and small group events.

My family has been attending this church for a little more than a year and we love it. We worked very hard at finding a church that fit our relgious and social values and this church is a perfect fit. It is a wonderful old building in downtown Mpls and has traditional services with amazing music. It is an active congregation working to put their faith in action and positively impact the greater community. The community involvement and work for peace and social justice are what led us to this great church!

We had some financial scenarios we really needed a proffesional opinion on and this company was recomeded to us. While it wasn't a bad experience, I can't say they actually provided much help.
First of all- their offices are hideous. Or should I say office? I guess I had envisioned an office building in which there would be a suite with say a lobby and at least a couple modest offices for privacy. When we got there, you follow a dank, dirty, winding hallway to an office door labeled with their name.
We were a few minutes late so we try to open the door to go in and apologize and wait- but are stopped quick because this is a small single office and THEY are running later than us apparently. So we wait in the uncomfortable small dirty hallway for another 20 minutes- 30 minutes late total. Afterwards we have to squeeze past the previous client into a very minimalist office for our meeting.
The financial planner proceeded to ask several questions not related to our purpose for the visit and then realized she was on the wrong topic. The rest of the meeting consisted of us having to pull every shred of information out of her. She barely spoke. We had to ask very spefic questions for any help at all.
We left feeling we could have done this over the phone and saved ourselves the consultation fee. She offered no information we didn't already know and was not interactive or agressive in presenting it or the facts.

I was a member of Toastmasters for 5 years. They have clubs all over the Twin Cities (and the world for that matter). The only reason that I left was because I had a baby and my life got way to busy.
They have a well defined program to step you through speeches to become more comfortable giving a variety of presentations. You also have opportunities to learn about and improve your impromptu speaking, evaluation techniques, and even leadership skills!
I would recommend visiting a couple clubs in your area before joining one. Each club has a bit of a different feel and members in it for different reasons. You want to find a club that fits you and your schedule.
You can search for clubs at their website: toastmasters.org

More
The Jeune Lune is the most inventive theater troop in the twin cities. Productions range from vaudeville to opera but always maintain a delightful irreverence and timeliness.
The key members of the company never disappoint. They fill every role from direction to acting to writing and set design. The company’s production of the Magic Flute was brilliant, and Steven Epp is the second funniest man on the planet (Marcel Marceau is the funniest).
Unlike the Guthrie, the Jeune Lune doesn’t try to push the same saccharin fluff on its audience every season. They actually try to invent and reinvent. For this reason, the Jeune Lune was awarded the regional Tony this year.
The theater is located in a remodeled warehouse in Minneapolis’s warehouse district. There is some street parking. If you have to park in a lot, it will only set you back three bucks.

This is a wonderful and vibrant church, but its sheer size makes it easy to get "lost in the crowd". With over 3,800 families, it's a very large parish. However, there are many, many opportunities to meet other people if you are willing to do more than just attend Mass. There are frequent speakers, bible studies, and so on. There are also small groups for everyone from teens to singles to seniors. Plus... like almost any place else - volunteer your time and you'll meet some great people as you work together.
I've personally benefitted from joining the Parents' Morning Out group, the music ministry, Faith Formation, a bible study, and I've attended several evening speakers. There are youth groups, a singles ministry, groups that meet each month to help to feed the poor, and much more. I've been a parishioner for about 10 years, and I feel very blessed to be a part of this parish.
I feel confident that part of the blessing comes from the 24-7 Perpetual Adoration chapel, where Jesus' real presence is available and accessable at all times. I highly recommend this parish... but encourage you to get involved so that you can make it your "church home".

This is Our Home church for the last 3 years and we highly recommend it.
It is truly a place for anyone and everyone. Christian in doctrine and loving in mission. The senior and associate pastors are excellent speakers and God led individuals. The worship is wonderful and mainly consist of a contemporary mix of R&B, Gospel & Hip Hop. It is accepting of all styles and you may even catch a country tune, a hymn, an alternative rock band or a rapper on any given Sunday. You will not doze in this service!
They also have an excellent childrens program durring the service and throughout the week you can hook up with one of many smaller groups. Another facet is the Sanctuary CDC [community decvelopement corporation] which is it's own entity that provides services for the community. We currently meet in the auditorium of Anwattin Middle school, have during the week services at First Covenant in Downtown MPLS, and have offices in on Golden Valley Road. The vision is uncompromisingly focused on loving and changing circumstances in North Minneapolis.
Check out the website, call or email them, or even email me personally for more details!
