The Wild Rumpus book store is one of the best children's book store in the Twin Cities. In fact, it probably is one of the best in the country. The store has a huge variety of books for children of all ages. The store is even enhanced and adorned with fun items on the walls and ceilings to create a fun atmosphere. There are even two cats, quite a few birds and other items throughout the store.
This is also very knowledgeable and friendly. Even if you don't intend to buy a book, this is a great store to visit and way to get your kids in the mood!

I love this used book store. It's so big it keeps me there for hours! They carry everything from rare books to bestsellers and at great prices. The staff is A+. The store is laid our well unlike others that tend to be overrun with books. It's definitely worth checking out!

Great place, and a surviver in the tough retail landscape. Good selection of vintage wear, some hip new stuff too (especially if you are into the colors black and red). Less stinky and better laid out than its closest competitor, Ragstock.
Used to be called "Tatters and Platters," back when it sold records. I could be wrong-but I think it used to have more than one location as well.

Dreamhaven is truly a mecca to comic book and sci-fi fans, many have come from around the world to see the place in person and to bask in its geek aura.
This fanatic following is due in part to its fabulous selection and in part to the fact that just about anyone who is anyone in the world of sci fi and fantasy has stopped by for a reading and/or book signing. Famous names such as Douglas Adams, Orson Scott Card, and William Gibson have all graced Dreamhaven's doorstep, and Neil Gaiman used to show up nearly every other week.
They used to have another store near the U of MN campus (on 4th St. in Dinkytown), but this location closed in 2003.

I've shopped here many, many times. Huge selection of books, CD's, DVD's, magazines, and more. The clearance section is quite large as well. I pick up paperback books here for $1 when I'm heading out on vacation. When I'm finished with it, I leave it behind or sell it back to another used book store at the location I'm visiting.
I've shopped at different locations around the city and each has a different feel, along with different books, etc. If you don't find a book you're looking for at one location, they might have it at another!

I love going to BookSmart because they have a TON of books, are open late, and of course, CHEAP! Borders is right down the street and I think they don't have as many books. I like how BookSmart employees are friendly and helpful. I can find almost any type of book I am lookign for. The bookstore is organized and kept clean.

Yeah, you read correctly. Extreme Noise Records is a punk record store that operates as a non-profit. All the workers are volunteer and all profits are put back into the store or into the local punk scene. I'm not even all that into punk and i got really excited aobut the store. It's such a cool concept and I think more stores should operate like this.

If you are into science fiction books at all, this is the place to go. They've got lots of new and used books: ones you recognized and others that are more obscure. They will sometimes also have hard to find books, and you'll get far better trade on sci fi books than you will at other conventional used book stores. In addition, the staff are great at recommending books based on what you've enjoyed in the past. This place is always on my dad's must visit list when he is in town!
