City Billiards seems to be regarded as the nicest pool hall in the cities. While it has great tables and equipment, I’ve always found it a bit lacking in character for its expense. I’m willing to pay higher prices for a classy place, and it definitely has good food and a nice booze selection. However, it is not classy in the style of a classic pool hall. The alternative music and heavy metal, which rule jukebox, just don’t fit a really good pool experience. It’s also “trendy” to the point that it can be very tough to get a table on a weekend night. My final complaint is that they don’t open until mid-to-late afternoon everyday. It is hardly a classic-style pool hall, and that’s what I expect from an upscale establishment.
