Keegan's Irish Pub & Restaurant is one of my favorite places to catch a drink with a friend. The atmosphere is homey and laid back. The owners often work there at night, so you know they care about the place. The food is good; they offer Irish food (guinness pie) as well as American favorites. They have a full bar. On many nights, they have live local bands, often Irish bands. I usually always find a table or one of the small couches to sprawl out on. They have parking on the street (metered) or in a public lot behind the restaurant.

The Drink is a hopping place--almost too much so. Last time I was there, we had to stand for quite a while. The upstairs patio seating is beautiful. There are tables but the "Drink" also has a bar with stools along the railing of the patio. It gives you a beautilful view of Minneapolis' up-town area. It was fun to see all of the "action" from up above. From 7-10 pm, they offer $3 martinis--a variety of types--good and cheap! As with all of the places in up-town, be prepared to park several blocks away and walk. I hope that you are not wearing heels--I was!

A lot of people don't know about Infinity, but it's a great lounge. It is in the Graves Hotel DT, and does not have a cover. Live DJs play electronic and dance music and the decor is fabulous. It's not your typical overcrowded lounge with everyone grinding. They have expensive martinis, but the best you'll have in the city.

We discovered this accidentally on one of those rare date nights parents get when their kids are little. We had meant to go to Olive Garden but the wait was REALLY long so we went lookingfor other options and ended up here.
Apparently they are known for their huge beer selection and Pizza. I opted for a Stuffed Turkey Stromboli and it was amazing. Their foodis EXCELLENT! Wethen shared a slice of their famous Cheasecake- HUGE slice and soooooooo good. Best cheesecake I've ever had!
Glad our plans got sidetracked!

Or at least that's what the sign says.
Do you remember that scene in Elf, where Buddy the Elf walks into the coffee shop and shouts "Congratulations, you did it! Wow! The Best Coffee In The Whole Wide World! Way to go guys!!" Well, the sign outside of the Lake Inn, on 28th Avenue and 42nd Street in South Minneapolis, says pretty much the same thing.
The only difference is, they're not exagerating. Now of course, everyone has their own opinions on who really has the best burgers in town. But Lake Inn is definitely worth checking out in your quest to find the best. Their burgers are pretty darn good.
And so is the atmosphere, for that fun, local, neighborhood feel. Kind of dark, would be smoky if Minneapolis were still a smoking town. And definitely divey. But all fun. The rest of their menu is great too. BBQ Wings, Sandwiches, etc, nothing dissapoints here.
Check out the Lake Inn next time you're hankering for a good burger and fries.

First Ave. is a popular concert venue with both major and minor acts. There are two stages - first ave. and seventh st. entry. The place is very laid back, like a concert venue should be. They have lots of rock concerts and can be crowded at times.

The Tailgate sports café is a nice sports bar that is frequented by lots of locals. They have some nice drink specials; happy hour is 3 to 6, Monday through Friday. A small patio in the back is always nice in the summer. Be sure to show up on Tuesday nights for some hot karaoke action!

We ate dinner here last night with mixed results. It was dead to start off with, hardly anyone there, perhaps that should have been a clue? The decor is minimalist and not well-kept.
We were instructed by a sign at the door to seat ourselves.......ooookay. We do and the wait to see exactly how we are to get food out of this restaraunt ensues. After waiting 10+ minutes I get up and wander to the other end of the restaraunt to see if perhaps there is an order window because there are hardly any employees in sight and the ones there are taking no notice of us. Nope, no order places so back to our table I go and we wait about 5-10 more minutes until a very young waiter comes over. He was very nice.
The menus were beat up and sparse. Not much to pick from, some stuff crossed out with a marker, and kind of pricey for the basic of fare they offer. Again we wait for quite a bit for the waiter to return for our orders. In the end, We ordered a burger, chicken sandwhich and chicken kids meal.
Although we were one of very few customers there it took a long time to get our food. We could see the chef area from our table and saw our food get set up in the window when it was done but our waiter was no where to be found for a good 10 minutes while our food sat getting cold. WHERE he was most of this time I do not know since there wasnt many peopleto wait on. Tempting to go up and snatch it ourselves-lol.
The food was better than I expected after the shoddy service. Not remarkable but at least not bad. Bad service just sets you up to not expect much from the food.
All in all, food was okay, service, prices, atmosphere stank.
