I wasn't sure what to expect. I thought it was a working class bar with some food on the side. I couldn't have been more wrong. You can wear jeans but you will be more comfortable in something more upscale. This would be a great place to dress to the 9s on a budget. The restaurant has bright and well-maintained crystal chandeliers, flocked wallpaper and heavy velvet drapes that tell you that you have traveled to somewhere beyond your backyard.
Our service was a delight. Olga was from Southern Russia and quite helpful. If you want to practice your Russian, I expect you could do it with any of the wait staff but Olga took time to try to understand our broken phrases. This is not a restaurant where you want to get in and get out quickly. Plan to spend the evening if you have the time. Olga was willing to get our orders in when we asked her, but in retrospect I wish we had taken our time. An hour and a half is not enough.
To get the real Russian experience you need to start with some Vodka. We tried a sampler. It is interesting to taste the many flavors. The food was all very good and reasonably priced ($13-20). Lots of starters and salads in the $3-8 range, but for the big spenders, there are the high-end caviars that goes into the stratosphere.
We were there on a Saturday night. One end of the dining room is a stage and dance floor. A male/female singing duo did a pop-eclectic montage for the first half hour. At about 8:00 they turned on the disco ball and all of the selections were in Russian. This would be a great place to sit, drink your Vodka, and dance into a cold winter night.
My only complaint would be the coat-check. It was not until I came to claim my coats and tried to tip $1 for 2 coats that he produced a sign that said $1 a coat. It was the only part of the evening where I would say I encountered a less than pleasant attitude. Maybe it adds to the authentic Soviet experience?
Pros: Mini Russia in Robbinsdale
Cons: Not so much

I love a classic burger! I love it cooked medium rare, with a sharp cheddar. I used to live in Chicago and the best char grilled burger in the "Windy City" is The Wiener Circle. They use a cheese that is both sharp and tasty! It's no secret, It's Merkts Cheddar from Little Chute, Wisconsin. The BEST delicious spreadable cheese in the world!
I've been going to McCoy's Public house since it opened. I order the "Real McCoy" 99% of the time and in all the years I've ordered it, only 1 time it was over cooked! I have had slow service a few times. I've even had some of the burgers undercooked, and that's fine with me.
So if you want a Great burger and you love Chicago's Wiener Circle cheddar burger, then you've got to try the Merkts cheddar burger @ McCoy's Public House. If you don't like it with some red or pink, order it Mid well or well. Try the "Real McCoy" give em a chance. Comfort food done great!
Pros: The "Real McCoy" ,Happy Hour, comfort food

Overall... I had a good time. The food was excellent, and the service was fantastic. And the martinis... uh... FANTASTIC!!!
The only problem that I had, was that they didn't have my reservation, knowing that I put one in earlier in the week. It was for my wife's b-day and I know 12-15 people were going to be joining us. They (The Newsroom), corrected the problem by seating us anyway and took 5% off our tab. Which was given back (and then some) in the tip. So, I'd strongly recommend this place to anyone. But, I WOULD strongly advice, calling to confirm your reservation... if you make one!!!

Two words: Nibbler plate! :) It blew my mind when our server brought out this heaping plate of deliciousness :) !!! We also had the trio of dips, which consisted of hummus, artichoke dip, and queso cheese dip, and the tater tots. I am such a fan of the food at Pi, and love the warm (super attractive!) staff and enviornment. We've had outstanding food, beverages, and service every trip. The food is priced just right, and much higher quality than you'd expect at a "bar." I love the fact that Pi is gay/ straight/ and transgender friendly. You could bring your girlfriend, your boyfriend, or both. :) Definately much more "girl friendly" than other gay bars in the city. They seem to always have something fun going on, Tuesday Trivia, Karaoke a few nights a week, and pool tournaments. :)
Pros: Food, service, free pool during happy hour
Cons: Can be hard to locate if you're not familiar with the neighborhood

This indoor amusement park at the Mall of America is absolutely amazing. They have indoor roller coasters that only the more adventurous would try. They also have a range of rides for all ages. The $30 wrist band is the cheapest way to go but if you have never been here you should see it at least once.
