I have worked for ToT for several years. Management and Ownership have been told of the numerous problems with 3 hour lines and lack of attractions. Their response has been to cut the budget, hire children, and put up signs that say "No Refunds". The place is nothing more than a hang out for teenagers. If you enjoy being cold and waiting in lines for up to 4 hours then by all means flush your money down the toilet.

LINES over 2 hours long with horrible # system (like at the deli, except, your number is never called).
Mediocre scares--didn't even get to see main attraction because the lines were too long.
SAVE YOUR MONEY and YOUR TIME.
I thought some of the other bad reviews were too harsh. I thought I was patient. I did enjoy spending lots of quality time with my friends while we waited, but I didn't need to spend money and time doing it at TOT. AVOID!!

What a joke. Right from the joke of a haunted Maze thru the tour of the cornstalks on the worst excuse for a haunted hayride that I've ever been on...Save your money folks. On what started off as a beautiful night outside, turned into an un-skarie nightmare culminated in the following crude comments of our hayride "tour guide" to my daughter, "close your legs it's starting to smell like bad tuna up here". That was bad enough but really the whole haunted experience was a joke. The workers were "boring"

2007 was my first visit to this haunt. Here are my opinions on how to best approach this event.
Doors open at 7. If you arrive later than 6:45 - GO HOME. There are 2 big haunts, the Haunted House/Barn, and the Haunted Hayride, plus several other smaller rooms.
This is my assessment of how to get through the attractions with a minimum of time loss. My suggestions are to view the attractions in this order:
1. Doors open at 7. Arrive before 6:45, or go home. SERIOUSLY.
2. Join the line for one of the 2 big haunts IMMEDIATELY. After viewing that attraction, you will then
2. go IMMEDIATELY to the 2nd of the big haunts, and be prepared to have at least a 30-min. wait in line there. After that,
3. go to each of the others at your leisure. Aside from the 2 main haunts, the lines for the others seemed to remain relatively short. Only a 5-10 min. wait.
I was sufficiently impressed and occasionally shocked by the haunted rooms there. I think it was a pleasant evenings' entertainment. The efficiency at the ticket booth needs improvement.

I'm a mom who took 4 teens of varying ages on 10-18-2007. They've corrected previous years problems, i.e., they have only one 3-step lighted staircase, and only let people enter in small groups at a time. We arrived at opening time and only had to wait a maximum of 10 minutes for any attraction. Though we noticed the lines had gotten slightly longer later on. We saw good security, no underage drinking, and no apparent drug use. The actors did a good job and I'd recommend this as a fun entertainment alternative.

I grew up in MN and was so excited to hear about TRAIL OF TERROR. We are huge Halloween buffs and took our nieces and nephews to TOT on a SAT night. We are in our late 20's and our family members were ages ranging from 12 to 17 years old. There is NO WAY waiting in line for two-three hours is acceptable, and at least that much time for the hayride. The people that put this on have been there a few years....You know it's going to be packed..You are making tons of MONEY, so figure out a way to make it all work with order, care and respect for your guests, and a better plan. UNDERAGE DRINKING is a problem, along with kids openly smoking POT in line. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!! We were all injured seriously (broken Ankle, and my nephew a broken arm, two broken fingers, bloody noses, and other bumps and bruises) when an actor with a chainsaw jumped out behind our group as we were going through the dark. The crowd in back of us, came rushing at us to "GET AWAY", and pushed us down a flight of stairs that we couldn't see (THAT WERE UNLIT). We fell and the people behind us fell on us, and crushed us........We SUED TOT AND WON!!!!!. This place is a joke. DO you know that After we were hurt we were taken out to the dance area where everyone gawked at us, staff actually said, "OH, the chainsaw guy got another one!" Is that supposed to be funny? While we called an ambulance with OUR cell phone, another group was pushed down the SAME set of stairs! This place is dangerous, and the people working there don't care a damn thing about guests, they want to make money and laugh as you wait in line for THREE HOURS! Take your $15.00, and go do something else. The TRAIL OF TERROR is not scary except for the lines and prices. PS: WHY would you have STEPS in a haunted house that are not LIT UP?
DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COMPANY ANYMORE!

We had some guests in from out of town, and we thought we'd take them. The web site was impressive, and clearly this is no rinky-dink event -- it's got serious promotional energy behind it.
What a mistake.
The major problem is that it was hugely, absurdly, ridiculously overcrowded -- mostly with drunk teenagers (who appear to not really care -- we did). We went on a Friday night, two weekends out from Halloween, and the event was completely unable to handle the crowd it drew. After driving 45 minutes from St. Paul, we joined a massive line of cars. We had our tickets in advance (and so skipped the huge ticket lines). As some guy took our tickets on the way in, he laughed in our faces as he warned us the wait for the main attraction -- the maze -- was about three hours. Think about that. Three hours, in line -- and the wait is entirely outside.
We passed that giant mass and decided to try the hayride, thinking maybe the maze crowd would die down later. We got in line for the hayride and waited...two hours. Literally, two hours, trudging through the cold. I think we all agreed the ride would have been good, harmless fun (though not terribly scary) if we had waited 15 minutes for it. But no one was in a greal mood to appreciate it after a wait like that.
We got off to find the maze line hadn't subsided one bit. By this point is was 11:00 at night. So...the maze may be awesome, terrifying, wonderfully produced. But there is no way it was worth three hours. Before taking off, we waited in a much shorter line to walk through one of the ridiculously poor "Halls of Horror." No wonder no one was lined up for those.
We were about the only people there over 20 (my guests and I are in our mid-20s and 30s -- hardly old fogeys). It appears to be a massive, raucus, drunken hangout for teens -- who (because of that fact) must be willing to tolerate waiting forever in line (though they show an ample willingness to cut in line whenever given a chance). Four out of our five of our tickets were free (a gift from our realto) -- had we actually paid $15 a person, I would be furious. As it was, we had to just chalk it up to a terribly bad choice for our evening activity.
Trail of Terror: Either get ahold of your operation and figure out how to accommodate these huge crowd of teens, or start selling tickets only in advance to actually allow people to enjoy what you're doing. Your event is an embarassment.
Realtors and others who might think this is a nice giveawy to clients: Don't you dare.

Trail of Terror is a fun way to get into the Halloween spirit. The event features Halls of Horror (a haunted maze), Trail of Terror (a haunted hayride), games, refreshments, and more. For the kids, they have activities including trick-or-treating, pumpkin decorating and storytelling. If you are a fan of Halloween, I would recommend checking out T.O.T. when the time comes around.
