This place was packed on the night I was there, so maybe the word is starting to get out about Spill The Wine. Before I went I only heard great things about it. When I went there, my experience was fabulous. The young lady who waited on me was a sweetheart, and the food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you want to avoid the traffic and parking of the heart of downtown Minneapolis.
Pros: Great Location, Decor, and Food
Cons: I couldn't stay longer?

I just recently joined about 10 of my friends for drinks and dinner to celebrate a friends' 11th anniversary of their relationship. Though we were seated promptly, it took 45 mins. for the server to complete our drink orders and about 15 minutes after our drinks arrived, did we get to order our dinner. Another 30 minute waiting game and finally our dinner arrives COLD! First, I wouldn't have noticed the constant waiting had our server kept us happy with drinks, but once the first drink order was complete, that was it, no more drinks unless you tracked her down. Second, for the amount of time we had to wait for our food, you would expect the dinner to arrive hot. Not the case, even the plates were cold. I had their beef tenderloin cooked medium-rare, with shrimp and asparagus. Except for the veggies, the meal was warm, bordering cold. Finally, we got the manager/owner who switched our server to someone who thought to cure the situation with free desserts. The desserts were good and the 50% discount was a nice bonus but we were prepared to pay full price for the meal, we wanted to have a good time and celebrate the event, instead it was overshadowed by a terrible meal with even worse service!

The service, food and value for the Valentine's Day Dinner was very poor.
We asked for a table in the corner as there were 10 open tables when we arrived, they were not able to accommodate.
They served a very small salad with 1/2 tsp. dressing. We couldn't eat it because we had no silverware (I had to wait 2-3 minutes with the salad sitting in front of me until they brought me silverware.) I tried to distribute the dressing once I received silverware, but I could only get the small amount of dressing on 4 of the 8 leaves of lettuce. I could have eaten dry lettuce leaves at home.
The 1st course was to include champagne, our server brought us out two glasses of red wine. I said, "I think we were supposed to receive champagne with the first course..." She apologized and then brought us the champagne, only we had already eaten the 8 pieces of dry lettuce, so it was a little late.
I felt like we were a nuisance to the establishment and that they wanted us in and out as fast a possible to accommodate the next reservation.
The dessert was red velvet cake, it was dissapointing to see the presentation. I felt like I was at a graduation party as the cake was clearly cut out of a sheet cake order from an offsite bakery. I wish it had more interesting presentation and felt like they actually put some effort into my meal instead of plopping down cake leftover from someone's graduation party.
The table next to us finished their meal quickly and there was another couple seated. The server suggested that they order a shrimp cocktail appetizer that wasn't on the menu. I was very disspointed by hearing this, I would have loved to order an appetizer, but noone offered it to us.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.
WASTE OF MONEY.
WILL NOT GO BACK.
Pros: I liked the lighting.
Cons: Terrible food and service. The service was really bad. So bad. Yikes, how could it be that bad?

Went to Spill the Wine for a romantic Val dinner with the understanding that it was a set menu; however, the food was terrible and the service was subpar. Ordered a drink at the bar while we waited for our table, but before the drink was ready the host came to seat us. We told him we were waiting for our drink and he said he would bring it over to the table, but he never did. The salad was laughably small, dry and very poor quality. I ordered the fish and had to send it back because it was lukewarm inside. My new piece was slightly warmer inside, but it was obvious that it was pre-made and set under a heat lamp. The portion was ridiculously small and severed with only a small sprig of greens underneath the fillet. The cake was obviously cut from a sheet cake made off-site and the presentation was what I would have expected from Perkins. Until I asked for a desert fork, it was expected that I use my entree (fish) fork for my cake. When I asked the waitress about the valet pick-up process, I was told I had to go out to the parking lot and give my ticket to the valet. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought the whole purpose of valet was that they (valet) bring the car to you? This was my first time at Spill the Wine and absolutely my last!
Pros: Nice Ambiance
Cons: Poor Food Quality and Service

Tried this place for the first time on Valentines Day. Overall a very poor experience. I have several complaints on this place, and I will adamantly convince people not to go here. Fristly, we showed up on time for our reservation and had to wait a half hour for our table. Next we were informed of the set menu, which no one ever told me about when i made the reservation. This would have nice to know as i would have gone somewher else. On to to the actual food experience and our server. The starter salad had about six pieces of lettuce, possibly seven. It was also given about three drops of dressing. Our server cared less about us and more about socializing behind the bar with other staff(if you get the short blonde haired girl as your server i recommend running out of the restaurant). We were never once asked how the food was and we had to flag her down for any refills or other requests. She was incredibly rude and bascailly a b*tch. We were actually encouraged by our waiter to use the same fork for the salad, main course, and dessert. I though this was a complete joke and we literally had to pursuade her for new silverware for dessert. Basically this was horrible experience and i would never spend my money here again. After reading other reviews it appears the common theme at Spill the Wine is horrible service. This place will go under very soon if they don't change the attitudes of their staff.

Now I usually love to eat out and experiment with different restaurants; always find something good from one of them. Spill the Wine was far from that. First off, they gave us the wrong directions to the place twice (two different people). I had an $8 bowl of soup that I got 21 spoonfuls out of and Cubfoods brand tasted better for 1/8th the price. The menu didn't have much selection and a $14 salad would be comparable to a McDonald's side salad. For $17 you can get a pound of pasta with very little meat and sauce. I sat there for 20 minutes with 3 empty glasses of water in front of me as the server came and asked how everything was on 4 separate occasions before she refilled my glass. They have poor ventilation and my table (along with half the restaurant) had their winter jackets on. About the best thing going for them is their $15 bottles of wine during happy hour. I would give the place 6 months before they go out of business.
Pros: Wide Selection of Wine
Cons: Everything else you'd expect out of a restaurant
