Kids board this summer ?
One of our favorite places to go is the zoo !!!
On the spur of the moment I'll tell the kids to pack a
lunch, get on the sun screen and head out to the car.
Our Milwaukee Co. Zoo has really changed from when I
was a kid. (We went every year)
Then-We had our famous gorilla named Samson that would scar the blank out of us when he hit the glass.
We would get to feed the animals. The bears would sit up for a marshmallow. They loved them !!!
We always had to bring bags of peanuts for the elephants.
Yes the exhibits were boring back then for the animals.
But...
Now- My kids get to see the animals in exhibits that look like they are in the wild.
They have so many fun things to do now days.
****New Sky Safari, Cost: $3 (round trip)
Weather permitting
You get high in the sky and it is sooooo cool to see the exhibits from above.( If you wear slip on shoes you may want to take them off. I did because I was afraid they would fall off and hit someone down below.)
*****Expedition: Dinosaurs Cost: $2.50
Through September 4
26 life-size recreations of the prehistorical creatures will come to life right before your eyes !!! Follow the dino tracks painted on the path, behind the Small Mammal Building
( You will know when you are getting close !!!)
~ A La Carte & Sunset Zoofari ~
Held rain or shine. Reduced admission rates: $5 Adults; $3 Children (ages 3 to 12); Free parking
Extended hours: 9:00 am. till 10:00 pm.
*****Milwaukee Journal Sentinel A La Carte
August 17, 18, 19 and 20
They call it Feast with the Beasts ~ food and music festival!
~29 restaurants (It's hard to pick what to eat because all the food is soooooooooooo good !)
~The sound of music fills the air with national and local bands performing at six different stages throughout the park. (My kids love to dance the evening away, even after walking through the zoo 4 times during the day)
~Wine Tent featuring jazz acts, and the Comedy Sportz
~Mutual Family Farm, as special activities are offered
*****Sunset Zoofari
June 28; July 5, 12, 19, 26; and August 2
These are Wednesday evenings ~ music, dancing and and an evening outside on the Flamingo Patio!
~July 12 – “76 Juliet” Classic and contemporary favorites.

We have been coming here for almost two years and have been very pleased with the service and the knowledgeable staff. Everything is explained in language we can understand, and we have never been pressured to make an unnecessary repair. It is great to have a mechanic's shop that is run with integrity.
We recently bought a used car, and had it checked out at O'Gorman's before we made an offer. They found some things wrong with it, which we were able to have the dealer fix. O'Gorman's also gave us advice on negotiating with the dealer, the value of our trade-in, and the value of the car we were purchasing. All of this gave us confidence and helped us negotiate a fair price.
We won't take our car anywhere else!
Pros: Knowledgeable staff, fair prices

I had always heard about this place and finally had the chance to eat here. There were four of us dining and the experience for was fantastic for everybody. The dining room is small and we did have to wait about 10 minutes to be seated, because the party at our designated table wasn't in a hurry to leave. Once we were seated, everything seemed to progress flawlessly. We got our drinks, ordered, salads, soups, entrees, desserts, bill. The food was some of the best I've eaten. The best part about Sanfords was that we were there for over 3 hours, but it felt like 1 hour. The flow of the service was perfect. If you like trying out 'fancy' restaurants, you owe it to yourself to visit here at least once.
Pros: exquisite food and service
Cons: small waiting area

Nite Owl Ice Cream Parlour is a great place to stop if for a quick Burger, Fries and a Shake. Kids of all ages love this place, there are jumbo cheese burgers for the adults and chicken strips for the kids. The French Fries are always hot and fresh. The Onion Rings are crisp and delicious. You can top off the meal with a Malt, Shake, sundae or any old fashioned Ice Cream Treat. We Love Nite Owl.

I took my boyfriend to celebrate his 40th birthday on Friday night and we had a wonderful experience. Our waiter John was extremely knowledgeable about the specials, the food menu, and the extensive wine list. We were told the special of 2 entrees and a bottle of wine for $75 had ended but John was willing to ask management to accomodate us. We were thrilled. The thinly sliced kobe beef appetizer was amazing. We both ordered steaks which came prepared to perfection along with a delicious twice baked potato. We finished with a decadent chocolate cake that was oozing chocolate fudge. Not only was the meal more that what we expected, but the service was the best I have received in a very long while. We will definitely be returning to the Milwaukee Chop House very soon!
Pros: service, food, parking
Cons: none

I went here for the first time last week after reading a review of this place. I am amazed. I really didn't think that they would be any different than any other dollar store. But I was so wrong.
Lots of good stuff here.
Stop on by. It's a beautiful thing.

I've been to all the ballparks with retractable roofs; I wouldn't wish to rate the others, although I've been to some, like SFO, Phoenix, Yankee Stadium, Fenway, Wrigley Field, etc.....Ugh, Wrigley is the worst, Fenway, second last. Who cares about nostalgia? I want a seat located where I can see the game.
Miller Park is not just a game, it's a show and there are no bad seats.
Also, I hear this guy (probably from the flatlands) who says the team is bad and they don't get enough fans. Has he been living under a rock? We're tie with you bubba and we are going to beat the Cubs and go on to win the World Series. This comedian guest on WGN says 'root, root, root for the Cubbies' and then adds that the Brewers are too young to win, 'they must average seventeen.'
Then, Uecker keeps getting an invite back to Chicago to sing the 7th inning hymn and shouts 'root, root, root for the Brewers, you can root for the Cubs' - that takes guts and that's the kind of guts that makes an organization.
As for small markets - there are no small markets in sports. If there were they would soon disappear. Green Bay is not a small market team even if the population is only 125,000. If they were small they would not draw sell-out crowds and they would re-locate. I don't think anyone can count on that ever happening.
To conclude, I've lived in Chicago (ten years) and Milwaukee (35 years). There is plenty to do in Milwaukee for a weekend visit, prices are lower, it's a nicer looking city and much easier to get around. My son lives in Chicago and he only goes to games at Miller Park. He despises Wrigley Field and won't go into the White Sox neighborhood.

Oshkosh, WI
Pros: Big concourses, beautiful natural turf, friendly service and lots of lights
Cons: Cub players make a mess in the dugout
