I've been going to Grand Slam for years and I have fun everytime I'm there. They have basketball, batting cages, arcade games, food and beverages and other fun things to do. It isn't like a Chuck E Cheeses it has alot to offer adults, especially features like the high speed batting cages which are fun for more serious players.

As the mum of a VERY active 4 year old, slowly browsing flower ships and gift shops is a pastime I've put on hold the past few years. But yesterday I was out with friends who wanted to stop in The Flower Lady in Hartland, and it is the rediscovered favorite flower shop of my daughter and I. Aside from the fact that they are one of my favorite florists for their fresh and always beautiful arrangements; (I've been ordering arrangements for friends and family on the west side from them for over a decade) they have wonderful gift items -- particularly at Christmas. Very light-hearted in their approach; both in merchandise and in their treatment of customers. When my daughter wanted to go up and down their stairs their comment "oh, don't worry, every child who comes in here needs to see what's happening downstairs"; they also gave her a carnation in a tube of water to help her get it home safely (and then, another). I did not make a purchase yesterday, although both of the women I was shopping with did; but when I've got the need -- they'll be my first stop!

A non-denominational church, Unity offers a welcome home to everyone. The reverends are caring and will set up individual counseling if wanted.
The people are friendly and there is always some kind of activity going on to make you feel at home. After service social time is the perfect way to meet people.
Unity specializes in those recovering from illness, addictions, loss or whatever, but all are welcome!

I went to Bartz's to pick up some decorations for a wedding shower my wife is hosting. When I got there, I ended up calling her for guidance because there were more choices than I expected. Found everything she needed, then I wandered the store for fun.
They have a wide (though not necessarially deep) selection of favors and decorations for just about any kind of party. Bartz's will be my first choice when I need party favors in the future.

What a wonderful bakery!
This 5th generation Mexican bakery has an awesome selection of yummies for you! The pastries are bright and colorful and huge! And it is super cheap.
Unfortunately, I can't tell you a single thing that I ever buy. Usually, I just point to whatever looks good that day - not knowing what it is or what it is made of.
It's bakery, right? It's gonna be good!
And it always is.
They make a wide variety of breads, rolls, and sweets - which are no where as sweet as the American versions - but just as good.
The Mitchell Street location serves breakfast, lunches and an early dinner.
Other locations are
6th and National
16th and Lincoln
and in Racine
At most locations, speaking Spanish helps - but not necessary. I do just fine pointing and smiling!

I'm not sure of a grade for this one because my sister's dress came out wonderful. One of my bridesmaids had to go back to get it re-altered, no extra fee. Another bridesmaid had a *lot* of trouble. The one who had a lot of trouble said her alterations person said that there was not anything that could be done to fix her dress. She ended up having another person frantically work on the dress for her - and that person feels that whoever the last person was that worked on the dress, was just too lazy to put some work into it. This bridesmaid even had trouble getting together with her alterations person (not from Kay?s bridal) and when they did get together forgot to bring her dress, causing my bridesmaid to drive across town to get it from the alterations person's home. I hope to try and get her money back when she gets back from her vacation. My maid of honor had a great experience with them; The material ordered for the sleeves came in the wrong color, so they dropped that charge and her alterations person (from Kay's bridal) made the sleeves out of extra material from the dress (altered to be shorter- there was enough extra material).

Incredi-Roll offers much more than roller skating! They have traditional arcade games, a bounce house with slide and even laser tag. Please note that the basic skating fee does not include any of the extra activities or even skate rental. If you have your own roller skates or roller blades, admission can be had for $3 on certain dates/times. That's pretty reasonable for 2-3 hrs of family fun. They even offer special times for families w/ children 12 and under. And the DJ takes song requests!
Incredi-Roll also offers a snack bar area w/ fairly reasonable prices too.

I took my son here for an open gym. WOW! What fun! It's a GREAT place for toddlers to run, jump and play!
Swiss Turner is a gym to train gymnasts. They have a billion classes here, everything from basic to advanced gymnastics, to cheerleading tumbling and boy classes. They have programs for adults to toddlers.
The facility is huge and can be the PERFECT thing for a child who desires to get into this sport.
My son is 2 and fully enjoyed bouncing on the trampolines, climbing the walls and foam shapes, and of course, the foam pit was a HUGE hit!
Love this place - but at $5 per child to play in the open gym, it's a place that will be a treat and not a weekly trip. I'm sure the classes are great, but more than what I can personally pay.
Still, a load of fun!!!!!!!!!!
