Got a cut there recently and was mildly shocked. Interesting concept, nothing that I hadn't seen before in Milwaukee at the Men's Room or in Chicago. However, the stylists seemed harried and rushed. I was hassled about buying "product" several times. Reminded about extensive services offered at a premium price. Further I was informed that if I canceled an appointment without sufficient notice I would be charged half of whatever I was signed up for. Geesh! Hope my life never gets in the way of an appointment with these guys. Needless to say, it seems that they are more about protecting their bottom line with the cramped working spaces for the stylists, continual sales pitches for product and services. I would rather go to a place that wanted to give me a great cut than squeeze every last penny out of my and the stylist. Lots of other places to go in Milwaukee for a great cut. Other reviews on this site say great things, so it seems they are a bit of a gamble. Pros: excellent hours of operation Cons: haircut not that great, poor customer service

I wanted to go to this place for a while now. Thought it would be uppity and snotty, but figured I'd give it a shot anyhow. Very cool. I felt right at home. Girls with trucker mouths tossing F-bombs around, but being very cool at the same time. The owner even seemed down to earth and I hear shes pretty renowned in the industry. I had an appointment and they called me and said that my girl was sick. So my wife asked if they could juggle things around and still get me in. They had a girl come in a little early just so they could keep me on. Then I was late because of traffic, and we called and told them. They were cool about that too. We were damn impressed, so my wife made brownies for them. Pricey, but worth it if your fussy about personal grooming. Girls are well schooled in old school haircutting. Marlo gave me the best haircut I ever had in my life. Shes only 21. (I had a gay guy compliment me on it. Awkward, but that's sayin something.) Mara the new girl is cool too. Sweetheart and handy with a straight razor. This place takes all kinds, not just hip city slickers. Im a bulldozer operator, mechanic, and an amateur boxer. I think theyre cool to everybody. Very impressed. Sine then I been taking my 5 year old son. The girls are all really cool to him. He likes playing with the owners dog. He comes away looking like a little man. Very cool. i HAD been getting my haircut there for like almost 10 years (since they were on Old World 3rd) Theri cut my hair like nobody else and I loved it. until recently, I missed an appointment, I know it's stupid but I totally forgot. I was very apologetic and everything seemed OK. So I rescheduled. They made sure to call and be super snotty while letting me know that if I missed an appointment I would be in for half the services. Now, up until this point I had never been late to an appointment let alone missed one so I was a little irritated, but I figure wtf, it is sucky to have an appt not show up so I let the behavior go. Well, payback is a bit**h. She only cut the top section of my hair, I had booked a full haircut, and I didn't get a shampoo. My hair looked like a** when I left, picture a mullet done by a 5 year old and you have my cut. I said no full bangs, I got full bangs. I will NEVER NEVER EVER go back there and as for recommendations..... GO TO HALO!! (or anywhere else for that matter hung over skanks cut crappy hair, yeah fyi, always hungover!!) Pros: used to cut hair like nobody's business Cons: poor quality haircut and staff, don't listen to what u want.

Okay, I would recommend my barbet, but then you might schedule with her and clog up all her time. I can't speak for the rest of the girls, but my Barbet has got talent. (Marlo is her name, but don't schedule with her...I mean it...she?s busy enough) Haircuts are accompanied with a straight razor neck shave, nice shampoo / condition, neck massage and free beer, wine, coffee, tea and/or a few other choices. Nice staff, nice atmosphere, and everyone is very friendly and accommodating for a busy person like me. I've frequently rescheduled at last minute and they pretend like it's no big deal so that I don't feel guilty. I would highly recommend this place for those willing to shell out a few extra bucks for a top quality haircut. They take walk-ins I think, but I highly recommend making an appointment. HC's w/ tip run about $40'ish. You can get "touch-ups" and "details" in between hair cuts for something like $20 and $6. Very affordable if you take that route between cuts. Pros: Pretty Open Schedule for making appt's. (not overbooked) Cons: parking is street only I think, gotta pay the meter so bring change.

I have been to Groom about 8 times. I have primarily seen Erica. She is very pleasant and has awesome haircutting skills. She has given me probably the best haircuts I have ever had in my adult life. However, her customer service and time management skills are terrible. She was running late for every appointment except one. Typically she was 15-20 minutes late. It tried to be understanding, but after the after the third or fourth time it gets to be a little ridiculous. On two occassions I had scheduled a straight razor shave as well. Due to Erica being so late, I wasn't able to get the shave becasue the other barberette had other clients to attend to. To top it off, she got a little snippy with me when I mentioned how long I had been waiting. I'm fairly certain I won't return. It's a tough decision, though... Awesome haircut...

The reason I go to Groom for Men is simple, when I leave their shop I consistently look and feel better then when I walked in. I honestly can?t say that about any other barber I?ve ever had. I?m continually impressed that they can turn my ragged and indifferent style into much more than something only a mother could love. Thanks guys, it?s always a pleasure. I'm not one to go to a salon. I usually have a friend cut my hair. Today, I decided to give it a shot. I told her the situation, what i wanted, and told her to be as creative as she could. I walked out with the most normal haircut ever. The "perfect" haircut. Maybe this would be a little risky if i was a business man or something. The most standard thing ever. Like she didn't even hear me. She did well, technically its very well done. these people who go to school i feel though lose their creativity. Its too short for me to do anything about it now. Its not at all what i wanted. The stylist was very nice, the salon looks good. Had dogs around, and offered beer, it draws in a lot of different people. Its a good place, i would say, the problem is getting stylist to think about it before they cut. If you need to go in every two weeks to get the hair off your ears, its probably the place for you. Pros: Nice atmosphere and staff. Reasonable prices. Cons: Lack of understanding and creativity.
