There are three domes, each having a different theme. The jungle theme, or wetland is my favorite. There are a lot of birds and some wild plants in there.
It's also a great place to take company to. It's something different to go to that I don't think many people have acess to other than those that live in the Milwaukee area.

The Mitchell Park Domes make for a great afternoon walk. There are three domes and each one has it's own theme.
The first, is a backyard style theme. With rows of vegetables growing, beautiful tress, and domestic florals. All set in a gorgeous picturesque atmosphere.
The second, is a dry landscape, such as you would find in a dessert. Beautiful plantings and a wonderful pathway.
The third, is a tropical, wet forest type area. Full of birds, butterflies and bugs. This one is my favorite. Blooms from all kinds of plants and trees are abundant. The chirping of the birds is enchanting and enhances the trill of trying to locate the birds hiding in the vibrant foilage.
If you are a military person, retired or active, stop at the USO down by the lakefront..where the museum is, they will give you tickets for FREE admission.
Great parking by the way!!

This is one of the tourist traps on milwaukee. I was not too impressed when I went here on a recent visit. It was nice that they have these three domes especially in winter but there isn't that much to see or do there.
We basically just took pictures of the plant life but other than that, boring. My child enjoyed see the plants and running around though he can do that outside for free.
It would be low on my recommendation list for anyone visiting milwaukee.
There are alot of other options out there.

This is one place that i remember fondly from growing up. It has been around for a LONG time. I have yet to bring my own children here to see how they like it, nor have I been there as a grown adult. I do remember it being very educational as well as so nice and peaceful. The little birds here are very friendly. It would be nice if it was free to get in, but nothing nice is free these days, huh? Christmas time is a really nice time to go and see the special decorations. Definitely worth a stop if you are visiting the area or doing "touristy" sight seeing.

The Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory, a.k.a "The Domes," are a trio of 85 foot beehive shaped domes that house various types of plant life. The Arid Dome contains many desert plants while the tropical Dome has many different types of flowers from the tropics. The third dome is ever changing with new displays year round.

I have always loved this place ever since I was young. It's so cool to be able to go into different habitats and see everything. Very beautiful.

The Domes are open daily from 9-5. Admission for those under 6 is free and is $3.50 for ages 6-17. Those over 18 pay $5. For a rainy or snowy day, this is a great place to let the kids run around in a dome the temperature of African deserts. They have three different domes: Arid, Tropical and then a specialty one that changes. If you are a horticultural lover, this is for you. The plants are beautiful and sometimes quite rare. It is also a wonderful place to take pictures for your wedding. You do need to book your wedding party in advance, as they only allow a certain number of photographers in at a time.

So many different plants to see. The Domes is just an all around great place to go. I have fond childhood memories of my parents taking me there and I just had the best time. I can't wait to share those memories with my daughter. She is 4, so I will wait a bit because I think the older you are, the more you will enjoy this attraction.
It's also fun during a holiday, or when they have a special theme going on. Christmas time is just beautiful to walk inside, and each dome has a different theme.
Prices are good enough to take a bunch of people!
