I read the reviews on city search a week after my move. for me, this had been the most amazing experience with a moving company! i moved so many times and always got "screwed", this is the first time i was given a price and was promised service and got them all!
someone here posted that they showed up with no uniform or company truck? who cares?, in my case they did, but all the times i moved before, i had movers coming with the company name on the truck and they couldnt care less about my goods or the price they tripled!
i highly recommend flatrate moving, and thanks Kiko for the great service!!!!
Pros: service,honest,professionalism,price
Cons: none

I completed my move earlier this week. Overall, the move went well, however there were a number of things that were done not in accordance with the contract. The movers showed up on time which was nice. However 1. They were not in uniform, 2. They were not driving a company vehicle, and 3. Upon arrival at my new apartment we had an issue. I know the contract states that for extended haul over 100 ft there is an additional charge. I had previously discussed this with my sales associate who said up to 150 ft is no problem. I had no problem paying for a legitimate distance over the limit, however, the head of my moving crew told me that since he had just rented the truck that morning he had not brought along any measuring tools. He then proceeded to "GUESS" at what the distance was, and how much he was going to charge me. First he said I would need to pay him $80 additional, then he told me that he thought it was really more than that, and I should pay him $100. He agreed to settle for $60, and said that if I was unwilling to pay that, that he would need to call his company and not complete the move. Therefore I was given no option but to pay what he thought was appropriate. I told him I would pay in cash. At the end of the transaction, he failed to notate any additional charges on the bill, and promptly pocketed my $60 in cash.
Overall, although the movers were fast and did take apart and set up furniture, I will not be recommending this company to friends in the future because of this experience.
Pros: Movers showed up early
Cons: Claimed additional costs at new location

I am in the process of moving from Miami to New York. Although they are professional on the phone, they are claiming that I never confirmed the delivery date. I am in New York waiting for all of my possessions, and my stuff is still in Florida.
They are not willing to compromise, and want to charge me an additional $475 to deliver my stuff on an exact date.
They know they are a good mover and are not willing to work with their customers, since they think you won't go anywhere else
Cons: claiming I never confirmed the delivery

My move was from coast to coast. It was from Florida to California. I look on the rates of this page and believe it since most of the reviews were 5 stars even though there were not much in between. I call the company and all. It was set up. Pick up was fine just that they charge 50% at least on pickup, it was okay. I did not check exact time but it was around the time they told. Then at arrival, we need to pay before checking if items were complete. We pay since we recognize some items. I was checking all the items and they end up missing one item and they call and it was still in Florida and he promise that he will bring it the next week. Never heard of him anymore. I call the salesman who was attentive when presenting the service but now he just forward me to dispatch. The guy at dispatch sound careless about the item and offer me the claim. I want my item not the claim and the base insurance with the item is $0.60 per pound which is nothing except if those were rocks. I had some important books and other values in there. This is a real review. I give them an extra start for almost carrying everything. However, bad service on missing items. Lucky those that have everything.
Pros: Most items arrived. They charge what they said.
Cons: Missing items.

I moved to Kendall,FL about 2 years ago and used flatrate moving for the job.
after 2 years in florida, i realized it is very difficult to find a business you can trust to provide you with the
service promised. so when it came to hiring a moving company for the move from FL back to CT, there
was no doubt i was going to call flatrate . i was very excited when i heard they have a florida location, it made everything easier and a rep was sent to my house to give me the quote.he was very detailed and provided me with everything in writing, gave me tips on packing and did everything he could to accomodate me with the timetable i had to meet.
once all my goods were picked up and loaded on the truck, i left to the airport and my goods arrived within less than a week. I'm very happy with the service provided and the condition the items were delivered was perfect. once again, i was very impressed with flatrate moving. and believe me- its not easy to impress me...
Pros: guaranteed price, attention to details, pro movers and office reps.
Cons: very quickly fully booked on most end of the month days

Its been two weeks since I moved into my new condo and I?m taking the time now to thank the wonderful team and employees of flat rate moving who made this big step in my life so pleasant and easy. The forman, dajan and his team came in with a smile, explained every little thing they were going to do and once everything was completed they left the apartment clean and set up as if I lived there for a while.
The whole process with flatrate was great, the salesperson was very informative and led me through providing inventory list making sure I don?t forget anything ,in order to guarantee me the price. I expected some additional charges, but there were NONE!
I will definitely use this company again.
Pros: SERVICE,PRICE,AVAILABILITY,CLEAN TRUCKS AND GOOD LOOKING MOVERS :)
Cons: I DONT HAVE !

My realtor referred me to flat rate moving company once he found me a house.
The move was last minute and my building had elevator time restriction that was very hard to meet. Flat rate sent me more people in order to finish the move on time and did the impossible! I was so impressed .The movers packed my kitchen and bedroom and did an amazing job! I was so happy that I now carry their business cards with me.

We moved our 2 bedroom apartment from Coral Springs, FL to Jersey City, NJ 2 weeks ago (early June). Our contact person was Samuel Kipnis at the Miami office. He was very professional and courteous.
They stuck by the rate they quoted, the extra costs were because I underestimated the number of linen boxes, and because in my Jersey City apartment, the total distance that the movers had to walk was more than 150 feet. Every extra 100 feet are charged at $0.15 per sqaure foot. They also "recommend" a tip totalling 10% of the move cost, 60% of which is given to the packing crew, and 40% to the unpacking crew. These were the only extra costs and they added about 15% to the overall cost.
The 4-man crew who came to pack in Coral Springs were really good. The group leader, Danny Veritas, was professional and courteous. The crew was also courteous and careful in packing. All our stuff, including LCD TV, glass items and fragile items, came without any damage whatsoever. There were some really minor scratches on the sofa set, but maybe that was not caused by them...
The unpacking at the Jersey City end was not as good as in Coral Springs, but it was not bad either. I think this was because they sent only 2 men, and they had to walk a fair distance, so they must have been tired. They did a good job of figuring out a way to move our sofa into the apartment.
The only problem was that they broke an Exit sign in the building while moving the stuff. I was disappointed that they did not bother to mention this to me. I am still waiting to see if my building management will charge me money for it.
All in all, I think for the price I paid (total approx. $3500 for a 2-bedroom move, including tips and $200 for extra insurance from movinginsurance dot com) was quite reasonable. Most important, nothing was broken. Looking at the other reviews, I think maybe it's also the luck of the draw based on your crew, but I would highly recommend FlatRate.
Pros: Very good service, punctual and professional.
Cons: A little expensive.

I don't recommend this company to anyone. I scheduled my move well in advance. Yes the price was great. But like they say... It was too good to be true. Flat rate said they would be at my home between 12pm and 2pm. I called them at 1pm and was told that the truck would be here between 2:30 and 3pm. By this time I was getting really worried because the new place that I was moving to only allows trucks in untill 4:30pm. I called them again to ask where the truck was and was told that he would not be able to make it. Supposedly, the crew was "stuck on an elevator on the 10th floor" while on another move. I explained my siituation and asked for another truck and crew and was told that there is no one else. I was not given any other solutions. I was very upset because I had half my stuff at one apartment and half at the other. I even took my bed apart to make it easier for the movers. With no sympathy from Flat Rate, I asked for my money back and although they said they would give it back. I felt that I was not valued as a customer. Luckily I own both apartments. But what would happen to someone who had to be out of their old place by a specific date and had no other alternative?. What if someone was being evicted and was trying to get their things out? They inconvenienced me greatly and didn't even care. I took the day off to move on a weekday because my building only allows moves monday thru friday. Now I have to do it next week and sleep on the floor.
Pros: good price
Cons: didn't show up
