One of the largest botanical gardens I have ever visited. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden has a variety of plants and trees from all over the world in one garden. They have a number of lakes scattered through out the garden which gives the garden a nice touch. This is definitely a place you want to visit to stroll around with someone special or a place to walk around with the kids.

I love Fairchild, they have so many unique plants and their property is just huge. The whole place is well taken care of and usually you can see some iguanas, different types of birds, turtles, or other little animals. They have a really nice gift shop and a guided tram that goes around the area. They have a rare type of tree, I think it's from Africa, thats about 10 feet wide. Fairchild is just a really cool place to take the family.

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is absolutely spectacular. You could literally hang around for hours. In my opinion, it is a bit pricey for a garden, but check it out and if you love it like I know you will, you can purchase an annual pass. It is also a great location for weddings, but be prepared to pay a pretty penny.

I've been visiting Fairchild Tropical Garden since I was in elementary school - and I'm now a grandmother! I didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much then as I do now, though. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is one of the world's foremost botanic gardens, with extensive collections of rare tropical plants including palms, cycads, flowering trees and vines. Established in 1938, the 83-acre garden must compete with the Garden of Eden in beauty. It also offers a variety of programs in environmental education, conservation and horticulture. The Living Collections and Garden Landscapes include:
Windows to the Tropics - a 16,428 square foot conservatory with extensive displays of some 1,900 species of plants from the humid tropics
The Montgomery Palmetum
The Richard H. Simons Rainforest exhibit
The McLamore Arboretum
The Lynn Fort Lummus Endangered Plant Garden
The Keys Coastal Habitat
The William F. Whitman Tropical Fruit Pavilion
Additionally, there are special events throughout the year. These include the International Mango Festival held annually in July, Butterfly Day, Bird Walk at Matheson Hammock and Fairchild, Fine Wines at Fairchild, Holiday Music at Fairchild and more! I particularly enjoy the various plant sales throughout the year. I've bought plants not available anywhere else at some of these sales.
