Miami Metrozoo is a zoo that is great. It got hurricane damage back in 1992 with Hurricane Andrew and then got another chunk of damage with the most recent hurricanes such as Wilma. But, overall, this is a zoo that is very well designed. It could use more animals and maybe a theme park or something. I believe the county has plans for something like this but they have not approved it yet. We shall see what the outcome is.

Coral Castle is one of those places that as a Floridian, I'd never visited. When we were moving, we finally decided we needed to go down and see it, and I'm glad we did. This is an absolutely amazing place, completely carved out of coral. I think they also used it as a movie set in the 70's, as it really has that wacky sci-fi feel to it. I'd highly recommend it as an off-beat attraction when your in town guests are looking for something different to do.

Jungle Island is awesome!!! I was able to touch just about every animal. Two animals I probably will never forget were twin orangutan Peanut and Pumpkin. They were so adorable…but enough about Peanut and Pumpkin. I loved each and every show, Winged Wonders, Tale of the Tiger, and the Gator X-treme. The staff was nice and a attentive. I wouldn’t mind paying 29.95 again.

the airboat tour is the most fun thing in the everglades. it goes really fast so it feels great on a hot humid day to actually get some wind in your hair. only problem is do not ever stick your hands out i was stupid enough to pet some sawgrass when the guy reved up again and it leaves angry cuts that heal into welts! but other than obeying what the guy tells you its all very safe. they have a great programme that they take you to where the gators are and throw in some history about the everglades. all in all a great presentation.

This Railroad museum is very unique in it's own way..I recently attended a Thomas The Tank Engine event held on the grounds of this museum and as part of the ticket price we were able to see the attractions featured here.. I found it very fascinating viewing the trains of yesteryear..There were quite a few passenger cars, steam locomotives, some cabooses and even the Presidential Pullman,"Fredinand Magellen"..For the kiddies they even have a model train area so there is something for every person in your family who just might be fascinated by trains and and the travel that was so prevalent for so many years.
Located adjacent to the Miami Metro Zoo, and perfect to combine both for one exciting day in South Florida

While expensive to get in, we visited the Seaquarium last week and thought it was great! Spring of 2006 the prices were $22 for ages 3-9 and $28 for adults. We have been to several aquariums, and I would say that Miami had the best shows by far. We saw the sea lion show that was my favorite since it had a little story and skit to follow along with. Afterward you can wait and have your picture taken with the sea lion. We also saw the Flipper show which was great and the Killer whale show that includes two other dolphins. We loved them all. We couldn't get close enough to see the shark show, so that was disappointing, but we saw lots of other animals too. As with all parks of this kind the food was pricey, but not completely unreasonable. You could get a personal pizza for under $5. We were even able to get a little mood ring in the gift shop for only $2. Overall my kids ages 10 and 4 had a wonderful time, and we weren't totally overwhelmed and exhausted at the end. Well worth it.

Every year for the 4 years we have lived down here my wife and I have taken our kids down to the Santa's Enchanted Forest at Tropical Park in Miami. It is billed as the worlds biggest Christmas themed amusement park. The holiday lights and displays are spectacular. The food is is carnival fare with a good amount of latin fast food mixed in. The rides are great for kids 2 to 16. My kids look forward to it every year and we have a great time. You pay about 20 dollars a person to get in and all of the rides are free except the pony rides, elephant ride and stuff like that. I highly recommend it if you are down here during the holiday season which is the only time it is open.
