There's a hidden secret on Mercer Island called the Roanoke Inn.
Once an Inn for ferry riders crossing Lake Washington from Leschi to the island, the Roanoke has been in continuous operation since 1914...and feels like it.
Reminds me of some of the inns and roadhouses I discovered while living in upstate Mass.
Food is typical tavern fare...maybe a notch or two higher on the preparation scale. Not cheap but reasonable, with enough variety to satisfy a range of dietary preferences.
A great place to meet friends after work...especially during the summer, when there's ample outdoor seating on the open front porch, the side patio and the back yard.
It's a must visit for anyone who has missed out on this little gem of a historical road house.

My son recently started taking Karate classes a Mercer Island Martial Arts. The instruction is out of this world. Within a week he has started doing his chores at home without being asked and his teacher reports that he has been more focused in his classes. I would highly recommend to any one who has kids to go and check out this school.

Our server was the best part about the lunch time meal we had this week followed by the nice but large flower arrangements on each table. Things went downhill from there. The "Thai" dish comes in a separate dish and in my case was almost inedibly salty (cashew chicken). Most come with steamed veggies and rish on the plate (picture cafeteria). I asked for brown rice instead of white and my 2 ounce substitution was $2 more...gak! Simply put, the food is bad. Don't eat here.
Pros: environment, prices before subs, nice server

Seven Stars with its new location is a good option if you're looking for convenience. If you're looking for even more convenience, then have them deliver it--anywhere on the Island. Last time I did it was free and included a couple bonus spring rolls. I wouldn't take Chinese friends there since the International District is just 10 minutes away, but the convenience is hard to beat if you're looking for something easy.

Yuzen recently opened in the south-end mall. It's great to have a sit-down sushi restaurant in South Mercer Island. We were so happy to see it arrive. The sushi was decent and fresh. The sukiyaki was a little sweet, but good nonetheless. The menu is limited - surprisingly you can sometimes get a more full featured (albeit expensive) bento at Toshi's teriyaki hut across the parking lot. We would have liked to see a good honest nabiyaki udon and saba shioyaki. Let's hope that Yuzen can build a sustainable business here!

I'm disappointed with Sahara Pizza. I moved into my house a couple months ago and received a welcoming gift certificate in the mail on March 6. The gift certificate said that I could get a free Extra Large Gourmet Pizza, a $20.99 Value, from Sahara Pizza with an expiration date of May 31. When I called the Mercer Island Sahara Pizza at 6:00pm on March 7; I was told by the Manager that the Gift Certificate had been canceled and that I could have 50% of my order instead.
I don't think this is a great way to win my business. I've never been to Sahara Pizza, I did not accept the 50% offer and I don't think that I'll go to Sahara Pizza in the future. Additionally, I question the legality of the offer. It sounds a bit like Bait and Switch sales

I've been going to Dr Reeves for a few years. I think I should switch to a doctor closer to home, but I have assumed that it would be better to see the same doctor since they have your past history in their file.
I saw her most recently about severe low back pain. She sent me in for an MRI and when that came back as showing nothing wrong, that was as far as she wanted to go with it. No suggestion on exercises or anything I can do to help with the pain other than an offer for a referal to physical therepy. No information on when and if I can start to run again, other than her recomendation not to run. No explanation on the numbness in my legs and feet which has not gone away and no direction on what I can take to eleviate the pain other than the maximum safe dosage of over the counter ibuproferen.

This place leaves a lot to be desired. It is not the best service wise but they do a decent job of cleaning your clothes. The price is standard for the area and the plus is that the parking is easy. Some other places do not have easy access and this place does. I think f they would improve service, I would go here instead of other local places.
