This rather large discount store offers closeout merchandise at close out prices. It can look messy at times, with the isles littered with pallets of goods, but the store is organized, clean and well lit. There is ample parking in the lot outside the store. The staff is also rather iffy, meaning if you can find someone to help you and if they have enough folks on the registers. Other than that, the staff has been mostly friendly, but the turn around in staff does not always guarantee that the person who helped you last time will be there this time.
The values will depend on what you are looking for. They do carry seasonal material, again closeouts deeply discounted. Some of it is cheaply made, reflected in the prices; other times you can find some quality items at low prices.
They also stock regular items such as plastic containers of all sizes for storage purposes, bedding, kitchen items and school supplies. This is a great place for the generic back to school items or the home office supplies at very low pricing.
They also offer a large discount furniture section. Some of the furniture is cheaply made and will not hold up to heavy use, other pieces hold up quite well. Its hard to pinpoint which will do better and you should examine the furniture to see the quality of workmanship if quality is what you are looking for here. However, if you are on a tight budget, this is the place to pickup that couch or office chair.
There is also a section of food items, which I have experimented with from time to time, as well as some health and beauty aids.
To be honest, there are some bargains to be found, sometimes quality goods. There is also some junk. This is a bargain hunters paradise if you know what you are looking for and know how to inspect it before purchase. A good deal can be had at Big Lots if you are a good shopper.

Boliantz Hardware is an old fashioned hardware store. This little snippet in time provides the homeowner with all the little necessary bits locally, with friendly staff who knows their stuff.
Boliantz is conveniently located locally, making it easier for me to get those little screws that disappear off yard gear or a box of nails that otherwise I would have to run across town to buy from the big guy.
And its a friendly store, clean, bright, small and doesnt take hours to walk through and find things. If I know what I need, why should I have to walk half a mile through a huge warehouse, when the friendly face at Boliantz can find it for me quickly.
Their prices are also very reasonable for a local home town hardware store. They carry all the essentials, from screwdrivers to nails to staples.
I love local, small town businesses, and Boliantz provides local service that is fast, convenient and knowledgeable. And it is so wonderful to wander through a classic hardware store. Check out Boliantz when you want service and a smile.

This is an old fashioned bakery, where you get fresh goods every day, rather than the mass produced baked items you find in a supermarket, prepackaged yet touted as fresh.
The store is located on E. 4th in the Carousel District of downtown Mansfield and has fresh baked breakfast goodies, such as buns and Danishs and rolls as well as breads, cakes and cookies. If you get there early enough, you can get them warm from the oven.
Calling ahead, you can get an assortment of buns and Danishs to take to your office, all ready packaged up in the usual bakery box and ready for you to just pick up and go. I have a couple of favorites, but the cinnamon pecan buns are some of my favorites.
They also make yummy preordered sheet cakes, with a most delicious butter cream icing. You can also order other kinds of cakes, depending on the size of the cake you want, or there are cakes available if you are doing that last minute thing.
There are two locations, and both are supplied from the same bakery so you know you can get the same quality at both locations. Do stop in for something yummy and different at the Buckeye Bakery.

I have got to have a cheese one they are to die for They all have some very nice donuts so if your driving by in the morning, take the minute to stop you'll be glad you did.

Cord camera does something other photo labs do not, they offer you experienced and knowledgeable staff who will work with you to help you get the best developing and prints possible.
Cord provides 55 minute service if you are in a hurry. But we have also taken specialty film to them, which they have sent out and had processed and returned with no issues, and beautiful slides or prints.
They do have the latest equipment so you can make duplicates right there of your photos, or order them special. Their prices are also competitive, but quality work or specialty items will cost you a bit more.
They also carry equipment, photo books and frames, cameras and supplies for all you photographic needs. Again, the staff is very knowledgeable and will help you find just the equipment you are looking for.
This is a business that pays attention to their customers needs. You will not find that in the speedy photo shop in the big stores. Check Cord Camera and see what real customer service is all about.

Meijer has recently undertaken major renovations to its store in Ontario, and while its not quite done, already the store is taking on a better appearance.
They are still carrying the same great products, the grocery part has not yet been changed, which is good, and they are still carrying their specialty items.
The garden center looks like it will be indoors and possibly year round. And there seems to be a lighter, brighter look to the store.
They seem to have more staff, the lines at the cash registers are not as bad as they used to be, and the staff is still helpful and courteous.
I like shopping at Meijer, I like getting all my shopping done at one store, I like their products and their prices. There is ample parking and I like the new look of the store.

Micheal's is one of 3 major art, craft, and hobby shop in the Mansfield area. I will admit that I do not go into this shop often. But they do have a lot of hard to find items for cake decorating, woodworking, candy making, and so on. Some of their prices are a little high, but then when they have a sale there is normally some stuff that is dirt cheap. It's a good store, stop in and take a peek!

I like this store for inexpensive shoes. They have a nice selection that they keep up to date at this store, and the specials make it a good place to pick up everyday, casual wear.
The store itself is as all Payless Shoe stores, square, lots of racks, good lighting. The staff keeps it clean, they provide the usual throw away socks for patrons to try on and you never find them used in the isles.
The staff is friendly and helpful. The stock is always on the shelves and Ive never had a problem with getting a shoe in my size.
Pricing is what brings folks here, the shoes, while not the best quality, are priced to sell. Ive bought sneakers, boots and casual shoes that took a beating and I didnt feel bad about throwing them away at the end of that season. The fashions are current and the color selection is good.

When I want something sweet and chocolaty, I pop downtown to the Squirrels Den, and grab a little piece of comfort food.
Squirrels Den specializes in chocolates, fudge and nut confections. They also carry an assortment of popcorn specialty items and gift baskets.
I especially like their little dollar bags of assorted goodies. They have pre-packaged some of their best selling items in little dollar bags so you can grab a couple after lunch and head back to the office with some sweet treats in your pocket.
But their assorted chocolate items, from chocolate covered cherries to chocolate fudge are what draws me there. The chocolate is always fresh, creamy and melts in your mouth.
The staff is also delightful, and will allow you to sample some of the fudge if you are in doubt as to the flavor. With 12 flavors of fudge to choose from, you will be hard pressed to find a favorite.
Next time you are looking for a gift for someone special, or you are roaming downtown Mansfield and are looking for something to make yourself feel special, stop in Squirrels Den and treat yourself.

When I moved here 5 years ago, the Richland Mall was still talked about as the mall, very innovative in its indoor design. I had seen many indoor malls; it was novel for this area filled with strip malls.
But it was sagging behind. Hard times befell Mansfield and as industries moved out to cheaper new locations, the retail stores felt the hit, and the Richland Mall reflected this.
A little over a two years ago, Westfield bought out the Richland Mall and went to work on it. There has been much improvement to the Mall, as vendors seem to be coming back, there are not as many empty store fronts, there are renovations going on to the stores that have been there for a long time.
A boost also comes in the takeover of Lazarus stores by Macys and the change of name to Macys. I am more familiar with Macys and it seems to be attracting attention. The food court is not quite full but the businesses that were there have remained.
It is clean, the staff appears to be larger than it was, and they are helpful and courteous. There are also events being held at the Mall to bring shoppers in. The parking lot is being repaired in places, repaved in others.
The Westfield management seems to be improving the Mall, attracting businesses and keeping them. Its a good move on their part, and one which benefits Mansfield.
