When we first got a chimney service to clean our chimney's, I was not happy with their service. When the next cleaning was due, I called A 1 Evans. The difference in the skill levels was very apparent. Their service was excellent.
They also did something the other service did not do. They made some recommendations regarding the fireplaces, suggesting that one should be looked at by a professional as it was more than likely outdated, and could be made safer. They also recommended that one of the fireplaces should get a “sleeve” to make it safer as well. They did not push, but they did offer solutions.
Every year we have A 1 Evans back. They examine the chimneys with little cameras, to make sure the masonry is holding up ok, and the sleeves are doing well. I have always gotten a full report from them regarding the condition of the chimneys and the service is always done professionally and courteously.
I highly recommend A 1 Evans of Mansfield. Professional service, and the price is extremely reasonable.

Of the three contractors we called, the only one who actually called back was Dolces. Dolces, by the way, charges for an estimate. The charge is wavered if you choose to have the work done. I decided one estimate was better than none, and if I didn’t like the estimate, I would call around some more.
The gentleman from Dolces came out for the estimate, and was fast and knew his business. He looked over the piles and gave me a figure on the spot. And to be honest, it was much less than what I had thought. I agreed with the figure and he said he would be out in two days to clean up.
As promised, his crew was out at the crack of dawn two days later and it took all of a day and a half for them to mulch up the piles of branches and clean up the mess. They did it cleanly and completely; there were no leftovers, no missed spots.
I was pleased with the service I received from Dolces. Fast, pleasant and it was exactly what I wanted.
Dolces does more than cleanup. They provide mulch for trees and yards, they do various tree services and stump removal. I am considering many of the stumps left when they took down the trees, and when I’m ready, it will be Dolces I will call again.
For all your tree needs and yard services, call Dolces and get an estimate. While it sounds like it was the only contractor who answered my original inquiries, I could have gone for more estimates had I not found the gentleman who came out most pleasant and professional and the price more than fair. I think you will too.

OK, you need some frames, some beads, some seasonal decorations, some fabric… you need something to aid you in working your favorite hobby. Some paint, some glue, a box to keep it all in.
This is Hobby Lobby. Located on Park Avenue it is a great place when you need one thing, lots of things or just want to browse the seasonal isles looking for decorating ideas.
The store is huge. The isles are brightly lit, always clean, and while the shelves are always well stocked, the isles are not clogged or hard to navigate.
The store is arranged so you can find what you need without too much hassle. The flowers and fabrics are just inside the door, with specials and seasonal items sometimes on display up front as well. The isles with “clearance items” are also close to the front, and the store has a habit of not messing with the arrangement of where things are, so you can always locate your particular needs.
The seasonal isles are constantly switched out, to focus on the latest holiday or season. There are specials offered there as well, sometimes a pre-season sale, sometimes end of season sale. Either way, you can always find a bargain.
Not that the prices aren’t great when there isn’t a sale! The regular prices are low, so that special project will not end up costing you an arm and a leg.
The staff is always helpful and courteous as well, making this a pleasurable experience to shop. Also note that they are just as knowledgeable as they are helpful. There know where things are, they know what they are used for, and they can help you with the application. I want to make special mention of the custom framing staff, who have always been great at helping me work out a good framing solution when needed and they professionally put together my art work or certificates with the chosen materials quickly and at a very reasonable price.
Hobby Lobby covers more than just what I have mentioned here. Everything from Bridal accents to scrap books to stained glass to doll houses to party planning, the supplies are all here. All you add is a bit of imagination and they will provide the supplies. This is a wonderful place to shop for all those special needs and the prices are just right.

Built in 1926, Kingwood center is 47 acres of house and gardens open to the public. It is a bequest of Mr. Charles King, who left it to the city of Mansfield.
Besides the house, which is of interest for its architectural and historical viewpoint, the gardens and the greenhouse is what draws the public year round.
The gardens are beautifully laid out, rose gardens, annuals, perennials, tree lined walks and fountains. There is a lovely common building where local events are held, such as flower shows and concerts. And the greenhouse, besides having some unique and unusual plants, hold several plant sales each year that benefit the foundation.
Weddings are common on the grounds, and there is a large bird pond which attracts children wanting to feed the ducks or swans. There are also peacocks and guinea hens running around loose. And, of course, there is the wonderful smelling herb gardens on the terrace outside the main house.
There are two main parking lots, offering lots of parking and a gift shop is at the main house.
Do make it a point of stopping in to this locally historical house and well maintained and peaceful gardens. A lovely place to spend a Sunday afternoon. Best of all ... it's FREE!!

From the first, they approached the minor stuff with professional interest. Even though it was not major work, they treated me as a good customer, answered all my questions and performed the work swiftly and properly. Where I thought there were major problems, they found it was simply a matter of not having the wiring properly done, and fixed the problems without too much complication. I appreciate someone being straight with me.
I have been using them for many years now. From the first time they came out to fix the small outlets that didn’t seem to work to the installation of an additional circuit breaker box for our new spa installation this year, they have always provided first class, professional work and installations.
The electricians who have come out are always courteous; they are more than willing to explain exactly what they will be doing and they are fast and professional.
The pricing is a little bit more, but for professional work that is not going to cause issues later down the line, it is better in my opinion to have a professional and pay a bit more than risk an amateur or a handyman who may or may not know what they are doing and compromise safety. Electrical wiring is not some thing to mess with.
For that big wiring installation, renovations, or just having a new outlet installed, trust your electrical needs to professionals that are fast, courteous and know their stuff. Give Alpine a call.

Boliantz Hardware is an old fashioned hardware store. This little snippet in time provides the homeowner with all the little necessary bits locally, with friendly staff who knows their stuff.
Boliantz is conveniently located locally, making it easier for me to get those little screws that disappear off yard gear or a box of nails that otherwise I would have to run across town to buy from the big guy.
And its a friendly store, clean, bright, small and doesnt take hours to walk through and find things. If I know what I need, why should I have to walk half a mile through a huge warehouse, when the friendly face at Boliantz can find it for me quickly.
Their prices are also very reasonable for a local home town hardware store. They carry all the essentials, from screwdrivers to nails to staples.
I love local, small town businesses, and Boliantz provides local service that is fast, convenient and knowledgeable. And it is so wonderful to wander through a classic hardware store. Check out Boliantz when you want service and a smile.

Recently I purchased a spa. After looking around and comparing prices and service at a number of local stores, I chose Lighthouse Pools and Spas for many reasons.
From the moment I entered the store, the difference was apparent. There was a large assortment of spas on the floor either up and running or on display for you to compare, oogle over and consider. This was a much nicer store than some others I'd been in, had better displays and more choices. This was the store I decided to shop in. The store was also clean, brightly light and very organized.
The sales persons did not rush right over to annoy, but rather allowed me to look over the spas on the floor. Once I had some questions, the sales staff was attentive, they were courteous and they were extremely helpful in getting all the information I needed.
The spa was delivered on time, installed in the location I requested, and again, the delivery people were courteous and accommodating.
I have since been back for supplies. The two sales persons who helped me choose the spa remember my name. The other sales staff are always helpful when choosing chemicals, and they always are attentive and helpful.
It was a pleasant experience, and I would highly recommend Lighthouse for their courteous, helpful staff and great products and excellent prices.

We used Mid Ohio to remove some trees that were too close to the house. They removed the trees quickly and professionally, removing the tops for us with a mulching machine.
There were some tough trees to remove, growing in and around the house and garage. They used a bucket and ropes, and no damage was done.
We asked that they leave the trees and larger branches, so we could cut those up for firewood. They left the good stuff, took away everything we couldnt use and cleanup was easy for us.
They are professions, bonded and insured, and they know what they are doing. It was a pleasure to watch professionals at work.
Tree problems are no problem for Mid Ohio, and I highly recommend them.

More
When we first moved into our home, the house had been abandoned for a couple of years. Both floors were covered with rugs, and the wildlife had taken up residence in the house. They also smelled.
First thing, before we even moved in, I wanted the rugs cleaned. I called several rug services but went with Stanley Steemer for a couple of reasons.
First was the discussion I had with the technician. We discussed the condition of the house, and he suggested that they might use a cleaner product that would deep clean the rugs, removing much of the contaminates I suspected the rug might have, and also give the house a fresh, clean smell.
Second was that the technician said it would take a couple of days for the rugs to completely dry out. This suggested to me that deep cleaning would actually make the carpets wet with solution, right down to the padding. These rugs needed a cleaning that good.
Third was price. The pricing, while a little higher than a couple of other quotes, was still within the range that I had in mind, and was just right for the amount of work this project would take.
They did spend the entire day on this house. They went over the carpets several times. The rugs were indeed wet to the touch. This was not a problem, as we had not moved anything in by that time, and it was several days before the trucks would be there with our furniture.
I am also pleased with the results. The carpets no longer smelled, and when I vacuumed the first time, there were no little foreign particles in the carpet that would have made me cringe.
Great service, knowledgeable, and good pricing. Check out Stanley Steemer for your carpet cleaning needs.

More
One of the first issues we had to address with our house was the roof on the garage. Nice garage, two car, workspace, but the roof leaked buckets every time it rained.
We called several contractors to replace the roof. We had estimates all over the place, and none of them could start the job quickly.
We decided on Workman because, to be quite honest, they could do the job that week. The pricing was also middle of the road, about half way between the cheapest estimate and the most expensive. My grams was very wise when she taught me the lesson, you get what you pay for.
Workman did the ripoff in one day, and had the paper on that day. The rest of the roof was completed the following day. They cleaned up the mess from the ripoff and left me with very little to do other than watch them place the roof on the garage.
The roof has held up well these past 5 years, and when we redid the decks on the back of the house, we called Workman to do the roofing on the house. We wanted new roofing because of a leak around the chimney and front porch, and we needed new gutters and the addition was going to be roofed so new roofing was called for in the blueprints over the deck area.
Workman worked with our deck contractor, ripping off the roof and putting on the new roof in time with the construction of the decks. He included “ice dam” covering on the edging of the roof to prevent ice backing up from the gutters in the winter, put new effective gutters on the house, and fixing the chimney leak, which was difficult to pinpoint but with only one return trip to identify the leak and tar and paper it properly.
I have been very satisfied with the quality and workmanship Workman has provided us with the roofing and I feel I probably will never have to call him again to work on the roof which is as it should be.
And the pricing, while some folks would find it a little bit more than they may want to pay, I think is appropriate for a professional contractor and work well done. They are also bonded and insured, which gives the homeowner peace of mind.
I do recommend Workman for their professional service and excellent work. Roofing is no longer an issue with us, and we credit Workman with jobs well done.
