Varney's Book Store

Varney's Book Store is the definitive K-State store. They feature an almost comprehensive merchandise collection and--thanks to a partnership with the university--even run a store on campus in the Student Union. The vast majority of text-books are available here, along with all of the art supplies, office supplies, clothing, gifts, and all that would be expected from the "official" K-State store. The close university tie is certainly used to it's fullest, as you'll find that almost all items are the full retail price associated with "official" products. For convenience, you can't beat a trip to Varney's: they simply have everything K-State. But if you're looking for savings or something a little more personal, you'll be better off searching around for a store a little off the beaten path. Or at least off campus. more

Don't be fooled by the name. This isn't a run-of-the-mill ordinary book shop. Varney's carries far more than books. THey have an extensive selection of KSU apparel. They usually have a sale at the end of each season. Last year I got a KSU hoodie (Gear brand) for $25!!! THey also carry books, school supplies, software, and computer accessories. There is an Alltel kiosk in the store for any cellular phone service. One unique aspect of Varney's is that during the school year they offer periodic free art classes. Topics vary and the classes are open to all ages. more

This is a terrible store to buy textbooks or K-State merchandise at. The mark up on sweatshirts and t-shirts is so rediculous, expect to pay fifty dollars for a sweatshirt and at least twenty for a regular t-shirt. As far as books are concerned, you are better off buying at half.com or amazon.com. more

Varney's carries the most extensive selection of K-State books in Manhattan. They also have a huge selection of K-State apparel and merchandise and are the place to order graduation announcements as wells as cap and gowns and diploma frames. They also are a direct outlet of Dell and Gateway computers and have a wide selection of school supplies. more
