When I was a little girl my mother brought my sister and me here for special treats and now that I am married with a child I bring my husband and son here. It is not inexpensive but the high quality ingredients and unique cooking style of the cheeseburgers is great. Once you have a Shady Glen cheeseburger with the huge wings of crispy cheese sticking out you'll be hooked! On a cold day the home made minestrone soup is delicious and of course the ice cream in any form is wonderful, but the milk shakes are especially good. It is a unique environment with the wrap around counters and booths and the retro uniforms. A real family favorite!

A boat of condiments is brought to every table that includes relish, mustard, ketchup and raw onions. They still serve old-fashion milk shakes and you need to top off your lunch with a supper ice cream cone.

I spent my teens and twenties in Manchester and have been eating at Shady Glen off and on for over 50 years. Used to grab my girl friend and go get burgers and then the drive-in movie (no longer there) on Friday nites. Took my kids when I got married. Even they have the memories of Shady Glen, especially in summer when we did our sunday drive. FANTASTIC cheeseburgers and out of this world shakes. It is still a great place to take a family, it's clean, good service and it's still like "the old days'. Eat at Shady Glen and it'll become a habit. Pros: Great Family Place and the Nostalgia Cons: There's not a Shady Glen where I live now

We have eaten at this establishment for at least 35 years and hope to eat there for another 35. The ice cream is very creamy and the wait staff is ultra professional and courteous. It is not inexpensive, but well worth every penny (try the fries).

Ever since I was a little girl I've loved going to Shady Glen. My love for the crispy cheese, ice cream and service influenced me to pick up an application. I'm now a waitress there and I'm really putting up a review in respose to people saying it's over crowded. The best nights to go for dinner if you don't have time to wait for a booth or you don't want to sit on the stools are Monday-Wednesday. I highly recommend the cheese burgers and any type of milkshake. Hope to see you there!
