I had a great time here. The view is amazing and the food/drinks are great. I had the cumin crusted Ahi, which was just amazing and the bread rolls were delicious. The service was a little slow, but they were busy. Great date place!

I'm sure your wife's birthday has come and gone, but maybe for this year. My boyfriend took me to this Malibu restaurant for our first Valentines Day and I'll never forget it. We went at night, so I didn't even get to see the great view, but just hearing the ocean was romantic. The lighting is great. We sat outside, with heat lamps that weren't too hot. Once we left, I couldn't wait to come back to see the view, which we did, for our fourth Valentine's Day, for an early dinner, and the view was absolutely worth it. And the waiters were funny and helpful.

Paradise Cove Beach Cafe is a beautiful, romantic destination. It is located on a private beach, where you are welcome to spend the day if you plan on dining at the cafe. The beach is one of the calmest, most beautiful, and most serene beaches in Malibu. The Beach Cafe has a very romantic atmosphere with low lighting, and a comfortable welcoming feeling. It is literally right on the water, and over half of the tables provide a breathtaking view of the ocean. The food is magnigicient, even if you are not into seafood. One of their trademark items is their baked potatoes, which come baked into a rosemary bread. Baking the potato inside the rosemary bread keeps the potato moist and adds flavor, making for one of the best baked potatoes around. The staff and friendly and courteous, and very accomodating. Despite the upscale pricing and social scene, the beach feel creates a comfortable casual setting, where formal dress is not expected. It is a pricey choice for an evening out, but worth the experience.

We took the trek out to malibu with the idea of having a nice late lunch at the beach...well needless to say the wait for a table was about 2 hours...but not to worry they have ..Paradise to go...you can order out on the beach, both drinks and food and eat it on the chairs they have set up facing the ocean...once you have eat and drunk yourself into a frenzy you can then rest on one of the many lounges they in the area...great place to just hang and relax and enjoy being at the beach.
Pros: great beach front place
Cons: a little on the pricey side...

I like this place. I mean they dish up a bunch of fried or fresh seafood and stuff, really simple, but you always have a lot of fun there. It's probably too expensive for what it is, like everything else around Malibu but try it once anyways to see if you like it. There are always a bunch of Harley's to look at which boosts the experience a little. It's also nice to have a cold bottle of beer with your fish in chips and look at the ocean. It feels like you're picnicking on the beach.

I can totally understand why people go there and have an average experience. Their regular sushi looked totally run-of-the-mill. We sat at the bar (which looked like it seats about 15 people total, though we were on the end with another couple), and I asked for omakase. The chef said that there are three standard levels of omakase; 99, 150, and 200. He could tell I wasn't digging the whole pre-fab idea so he said "I'll make you something special." My girlfriend explained what she liked (she'll only eat tuna and veggie dishes) and I just said I didn't want Uni. The couple sitting next to us were ordering totally average stuff that you could get anywhere, and it looked totally average. At one point my girlfriend got a roasted eggplant dish that was really good, and she said her spicy tuna roll was the best she's had anywhere.
We sat down at 6:30 and by 9 we were having dessert (a chocolate suffle with green tea ice cream on the side--really good), though we needed to take off to head over to meet some friends so we felt a bit rushed because of that at the end. A couple of highlights: freshwater eel and fois gras stacked in a bowl with a kind of semi-sweet teriyaki sauce that was insane, not too overpowering. Another item of note was kobe beef tataki with ponzu sauce that was really good. Total bill with drinks and tip: $310. Fantastic evening. Do I have a burning desire to fly back tonight and eat there again? Nah. I'd go to that place at the Santa Monica airport before I'd make a special trip to Nobu again. But still, sitting at the bar was great, especially on the end like we did as we could see everyone in there.
Pros: atmosphere, service, star sightings
Cons: hard to find, parking lot fills up on weekends, bit pricey for the quality

If you are looking for a quick classy meal, I recommend somewhere. The seating is all outdoors and the service almost non-existent. That being said, this is THE BEST place to eat in all of malibu. The clam chowder bread bowls are Amazing and really big. My girlfriend and I usually order a bread bowl and fish and chips and split it, which is normally MORE than enough food. Don’t go here for breakfast though, because they are always out catching lunch. They don't stay open very late either, so make it an early dinner.
