These guys are legit. The cats meow, the bees knees. I've been in the military for 12 years and into guns longer. This is the only place to shop. Everyone I talk to are experts and the owners are great.the staff is easy to talk to. From building something custom that you wouldn't tell you wife how much you spent to getting a better idea of what to buy to get started this is the place. Prices beat anywhere around and the service great. more

RANDY RANDY RANDY.... Take a course in CUSTOMER SERVICE 4/23/2012

I walk in, was the only person in there, ask to have him help me find a gun that would be suitable for carrying; wanted something in a smaller frame, but something with good stopping/protection power. He gave me a stare like I just asked him to give me a check for a million dollars. Minding you, I own several guns, so I am not a complete neophyte. So I ask to see a few under the glass. He pulls them out in a very perturbed way as if I am inconveniencing him or ruining his day. I asked some questions all with remarks of how a MEAN father would respond to a child, berrating, demeaning, etc. I am a grown man, but he made me feel dumb and like I havent felt in a decade. I was at that point ready to tell him off and walk out, but I thought no I want a gun. So I look around some more, then as I leave I ask, do you have this in a 9mm caliber, he says, "I thought we already went over this with you", HUH, excuse me, I am not a child and secondly I am a customer about to spend $500+ at your store, a little respect maybe? Anyways, after that I walked out upset. I am glad to see other people on here saying how they feel to, Randy is a mean person and should not be in customer service. How he stays in business is BEYOND me. You cant make money by being a JERK!!! Word of advice, if you arent in his little circle of friends, or a regular, DO NOT GO THERE he will berade, belittle and make you feel like a 2 yr old. He has no time for people or people asking questions. Go to another Gun shop i beg you, unless you like being made to feel dumb and like an ant. Randy, I hope you read these, take advice from consumers, cause WE ARE the ones wqho pay your bills, we feed you each night, clothe you, put a roof on your head, so RESPECT US. more

Reluctant 10/21/2011

Okay, so I read all the reviews on Lynnwood Gun and Ammo and all the negative comments regarding Randy prior to going there yesterday. Of course I was reluctant, expecting horrible service from a rude and irritable man. What I found was a man behind the counter, having a conversation with a patron. When I walked in, I was greeted and asked if I needed assistance. I picked out a gun to look at, and he gladly set it on the counter for me. I decided to purchase the gun, and he gladly did the paperwork and was helpful in answering any questions I had. I actually had to ask him if he was Randy, to which he replied, "Yes, I am." Long story short, I purchased a nice gun and my experience with Randy and his gun shop was a pleasant one. The gun I purchased was $150 below the MSRP. I will return and do business again. Glad I made the trip and formed my own opinion instead of going by the reviews! Thanks Randy! more

lynnwood gun and amminition 9/1/2011

I work in customer service, and consider myself a very middle of the road sort of person. Not esally offended, nor discuraged. The moment I steped in the shop, he greeted me and asked me what I needed. I told him I was looking to get a rifle shipped to his store from cheaperthendirt.com, and he told me that he was registered and could do that. That, however, was the end of the conversation as far as he was concearned. He didn't seemt to want to explain to me if there was any proccess to go about the transfer, what his prices were or anything else for that matter. From the sales slip that cheaperthendirt.com gave me for my order, it was explained that I or the FFL holder needed to sign all of the FFL information on the order form and then fax it to the website. However, he refused to give me his information, and I can understand that as a security concearn. However, he was exceptioanly rude about it. I explained that on the page I handed him, the website explained that this part of the form was to be compleated by either himself or myself, and all he did was take it from me, say "okay" and set it aside. He then went back to doing whatever he was doing. Highly unimpressed with the customer service here. After my rifle comes in I will never use it again, and HIGHLY recommend you stay away from the store. more

Like an old time store. 6/18/2011

I have been a customer of Randy's for years. If you want 5 minute sevice and no personality, then go to one of the many stark no personality stores that make up the bulk of the market. No buzzers here. Walk in BS for a while and get a great deal from a wide and varied selection. Not all guns have to be Black or High doller to be fun. Go there soon. more

Underrated - Give the guy a break! 5/26/2011

Good: I have been going there for years, have bought a couple guns. One I didn't like after shooting it at the range, so i returned it, "Randy" was happy to process a return for me. I chose a different gun.. Bad: Yeah, sure, he is a little on the quiet side. But I'd rather that than an obnoxious person. Not everybody is Mr. Rogers you know.. Improvements: He has a good selection, pretty organized. He's definately NOT pushy. ;). Other: I have shopped here, at Adventure Sports (Lynnwood) and for Ammo usually Walmart or Cabela's. Prices are good usually better than Adventure Sports on comparative guns. Ask him anything, he will help. Just don't expect a used car salesmen.. more

No problems with Lynnwood Gun and Ammunition 2/17/2011

I purchased by mail a firearm and had it sent to Lynnwood Gun and Ammunition for me to pick up and perform the BATFE transfer paper work. I had no problems or issues with the transaction or treatment by the stores operators! more

Ignored 4/10/2010

I drive by this place all the time and thought I would stop in to look at a choice of carry guns. The person behind the counter(owner?) was shooting the breeze with some gun about everything. I looked around for about 10 minutes to kill some time and wait to be helped. I saw three pistols I wanted to look at. I went outside to call my wife and waste some more time. I went back in and looked at the pistols under glass I was interested in seeing. Another 10 minutes and he never even acknowledged I was there. Now I have no problem waiting my turn but these guys were just talking and not looking at anything or did not look like he even wanted to purchase anything. I walked out knwoing I would neve go back. I drove over to Adventure Sports. In spite of being a busy stor the guy there was very nice and within 5 minutes had all 3 guns out I wanted to see out on the counter for me. I recommend Adventure Sports. more

Terrible Customer Service 3/30/2010

I bought several firearms from the owner Mr.Ketchum each time I go in with the hope that he'll be in a better mood because I'm a regular now. However each time it's wishfull thinking, nothing makes this guy happy. I had a gun shipped to his store and got a confirmation from UPS, I went to his shop to pick up my package and he told me that he didn't receive any package for me. I told him that according to UPS online statement it says that R.Ketchum signed for the package, he replied that's me, but I didn't receive any packages for you. I just stood there dumbfounded, after several minutes of arguing with him and trying to recall the company name that sent it he finally went back to check again on the package, which was there and also had my name written on it. It's very upsetting but Mr.Ketchum is extremly rude and unapreciative even of regular customers. more

Can't Recommend 1/13/2010

If you're using Lynnwood Gun & Ammunition as an FFL I suggest you get a tracking number from whomever sent your package. Watch it closely and as soon as it arrives, show up at Lynnwood Gun and get your package out of there. I politely asked him to call me when my package arrived and it sat there for 5 days after delivery when I called to check on it. Needless to say, that is completely unacceptable. On top of this he is not reassuring of the FFL process at all (First timer) and is generally rude. Getting him to answer a question is like pulling teeth. He always seems annoyed when customers are in his shop unless they are a regular, which is evident. He will be especially rude and annoyed if you make a gun purchase or FFL transer because it's apparently a huge amount of bother for him to fill out some paperwork. Beyond customer nonservice, his gun selection is weak at best. I was always polite and cordial in his shop, which wasn't always easy but you can be sure I wouldn't be caught dead there ever again. A much better local shop is Adventure Sports just a few blocks away, give them a look. more

Interested in buying a gun 12/8/2009

I went to this store looking for a 22LR handgun. The owner was less than friendly and didn't seem the least bit interested in my presence in his shop. Like the other reviewers, it was clear there were "regulars" that get his attention and service. I tried to be friendly and engage the owner without result (something that is NOT the job of a customer). Another thing i found disturbing was his perception that we are in the biblical end of days - According to him because of our moral decline. He had quite the rapport with a very blatantly racist/bigoted customer. Randy went on to say that Obama was trying to ban guns out right and that people should buy everything "while they still can" - good for his business no doubt. After this experience I was scared to buy a gun at all, thinking that possibly all people in the industry are this delusional. Luckily I discovered another gun shop as well as a firing range that showed me not all gun owners are that crazy. There are a lot of good people out there, don't be turned away because of this guy. more

Bought a gun 11/13/2009

I like to support the small business owner but I do expect a couple minor things when entering a business. The top of the list is customer service. As soon as I entered this store the gentleman behind the counter was obviously annoyed by my presence there. There were two what appeared to be "regulars" in his shop and he was chatty with them and more than willing to help them with their searches and questions and yet when I told him that I would like to look at a certain pistol he was in no hurry to get it out. Upon inspection of the pistol it took him all of about 1 min and 30 seconds to ask me if I was going to buy it. HUH??? He never asked if I had any questions, never tried to sell me the pistol just rudely asked, "So are you going to buy it?" After about 10 min. I decided to purchase the pistol that I was looking at and told the gentleman so, he stared at me like I had just insulted his wife. I then repeated that I would take the pistol and again the same response. The third time I stated that I would like to buy the gun he looked down and let out a heavy breath and looked annoyed at the fact that he would then have to fill out the paper work to sell me the pistol. I tried to brighten his mood by telling him I wanted to buy another gun when he got it in an buy more ammo but he was still not happy after that. It was late in the day I had made a long trip to get to his shop because he had the gun I wanted and I was rewarded with rudeness. Not to mention the fact that the sticker said the gun was new, when I got home and closely inspected the pistol it was obvious that it had been fired and not cleaned. So in summary, ammo prices were pretty high, gun prices were fair on most guns, new gun was used, man at counter rude. Conclusion: I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN! Every person I meet and talk to about purchasing a gun or ammo I will tell them to keep clear of this shop. I'm sure I will find someone who is happy to take my money. more

Best Gunshop in the North End 3/28/2008

I enjoy competitive shooting, plinking and reloading. Over the years I have visited many if not all of the gun dealerships in the North Puget Sound. Owner Randy Ketchum is a very experienced shooter and gunsmith. At other gun shops, I have experienced all kinds of lies, bad advice and sales scams. I have never had that type of experience at Lynnwood Gun. Randy is always forthright, honest and trustworthy...very refreshing. The prices are competitive and Randy will deal to be competitive with the Internet and other FFLs. Over the years, I have asked Randy's advice on firearms selection, reloading, and shooting techniques. He has never steered me wrong. Quite often, his advice has saved me hundreds of dollars. I recommend Lynnwood Gun and Ammunition over any other shop in the Northwest! more

A little pricier than most.. 8/18/2005

They charge a little much at this store, and i'm not sure i like what they recommend to you. A friend of mine had gone in with me, and they were recommending he buy some less reliable handgun, and i suspect it was becuase they wanted to move the item. Though they did agree to buy it back, but at a lesser price than he paid for it, even only a week after he bought it, and he never fired it. Their ammo isn't too cheaply priced either. I cant say i'd shop here again, but if its the closest place to you its not terrible, just know what you want to buy, and know the going price before you go here! more
