big business / wall st. animal shelter 5/8/2016

Not at all impressed. Dog was taken from my property by "good samaratin" only to be taken to PAWS within 45 minutes of her missing. PAWS would not release the dog as I could not prove pet was on my property and until they gave her a check up and shots she didn't need. I had photos and vacs. proof in hand. Also was charged for basic minimum lodging of pet. Is this behavior legal and how can I secure my dog if this happens again? Angry more

Typical breed haters 12/17/2013

THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. Acting like a caring animal loving organization but they are nothing but typical BREED HATERS. Quick to judge and make assumptions about a dog based on their breed. I just got back from driving 65 miles to try and surrender my moms 5 yr old Rottweiler female. She had a bad stroke and will not be coming home again, so the dog needs to find a good home. I bring her into the facility and the woman behind the counter was immediately dismissive of us. She said they are a limited intake facility and I needed to fill out a form which we did. After wasting our time with that she then said let me ask my manager if we can even take her. She left and in less than a minute she returned to say she said no without even looking at her testing her or anything. I really needed help we had no where to take her on such short notice. NOW SHE IS IN THE ANIMAL SHELTER AND WILL MOST LIKELY BE PUT DOWN BECAUSE OF HER BREED. THANKS FOR NOTHING!!!! more

Lost dog report unused. 11/29/2012

My daughters dog was lost. 7 days later the dog ends up at Paws in Lynwood. The dog was microchipped and from Lynwood PAWS originally, but the microchip had an old number and it wasn't updated. Our mistake. The shelter received the dog, kept the dog for 10 days then adopted him out to a new owner, without even checking their own Lost dog reports, which is what they told us to fill out when we wen there before the dog arrived. Granted we stopped checking everyday for the dog assuming it was gone. We should've kept checking, I know now. Then they sent out a flyer saying they have the dog, but by the time the mail was checked, the shelter had given the dog up. Then the supervisor calls the new owner who wants $400 for an apt. Pet fee, and the shelter wants boarding fees an medical fees totalling $645! Kay Jubert is the worst supervisor I have ever dealt with. Abrasive and rude, just like the other employees who should and probly do clearly only speak to animals. NEVER will I recommend PAWS. No wonder the counties are pulling their contracts and support. The dog came home ps...after the $400 randsome was paid to supposedly the people giving up the dog. Who knows they wouldn't let us give it straight to them...for such an important service, they should pull it together if they actually want to help animals. more

These animals need HELP! 2/17/2012

This place is HORRIBLE! The animals are sick and the cages are disgusting. I've adopted two animals from there, and they both had serious ear mites, which is easy enough to see if they'd only check. One of my cats had ADVANCED stomach cancer, and she died a painful death. This is inexcusable. Also,I lost my service dog, and whoever found him , took him to Lynnwood Paws, where I finally found him. They would not let me have him back because I didn't have $140 to give them. They are supposed to be NON PROFIT! I had plenty of proof that the dog was mine, but they would not Budge. That dog and I were really connected, and the loss has been awful. It's a rare thing to find an animal with such a strong bond. Also - a friend of mine took her cat there, because they had told her that she could leave the pregnant cat there to give birth. But my friend changed her mind the VERY next day, but when she went to pick up her cat, they had killed her! This place NEEDS to be shut down! Those poor animals are being abused every day, and they are really suffering. more

Go rescue an animal! 5/3/2006

PAWS is a tremendous place - they have cats and dogs for adoption, as well as bunnies and smaller animals, and they do wildlife rescue. My one gripe (and this isn't really their fault) is that this is a community that loves to rescue animals, so if you find one you want, chances are lots of others have also and you'll have to do a "lottery" to get your pet. But maybe go for the cat with the gimp leg and it won't be an issue. ;) more

Thanks for the greatest cat in the whole world! 4/4/2006

Paws, I owe you a big thanks. You brought Adeline into our lives and we love you for it. She's the coolest cat in town. And that's not just a proud parent talking. Just check my photo gallery and you'll notice the stunning, cunning, remarkably intriguing Adeline. http://www.judysbook.com/members/chad/photos/ By the way, see the photo of her flying through the air? It's not like we threw her. She soars like a large bird of prey hovering over her target before pouncing on her target and snuffing out its meager life with a flick of her paw. Oh yes, be afraid. more

Amazing Work for Wildlife! 12/30/2005

I really can't say enough about PAWS. PAWS is the place you call when you find an injured squirrel (had to to that twice) or if you want to adopt a cat/dog/rabbit. Not only will they help with domestic animal issues, they promote thoughtful and careful living with wildlife. They have a center that rehabilitates and releases countless birds, mammals, etc...each year. more
