The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center has many health related programs. They offer programs in Allied Health (occupational therapy, physical therapy, ect.), Nursing, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology and Medicine. For being such a large rural health anchor for the area, it is surprising that they lack a School of Public Health. They do not even offer an MPH (Master of Public Health). The school has great programs, but their some programs are lacking compared to other Texas schools.

The Texas Tech Library is the most extensive in the West Texas area. It houses 6 floors full of books of all kinds: reference, fiction, non-fiction and others. Physically shaped like a stack of books, it is quite literally shelf after shelf of books. It also contains many computers connected to the internet and you don't have to be a student to use them. Before going, my only word of caution is to be wary of parking, because if you park in the parking lot without a permit, you will get ticketed.

WOW.. what a small world! I graduated from there in 2004. I finished my whole senior year in 2 months. I wanted to finish up high school because I hated it .. I was always an outcast and I wanted to come out to California where my boyfriend lived..
Anyway.. After doing a few weeks of researching different places - I decided on Texas Tech and I highly reccomend it. They had the courses to meet all the requirements I had remaining for a high school degree - even P.E. ! I had to learn soo much about tennis and bowling that now I hate them! I also took English and Economics.. I keep thinking there was one more class but maybe not.. For each class I had an instructor who would email me assignments and I could take as long a time or as quickly as I wanted. At the end of the course you go to a local school or library to take a proctored final exam. I believe you had to get a 70 to pass but it may have been a 90. I graduated after less than 2 months and received a real diploma and everything.. I even got invited to a graduation ceremony but wasn't able to make it back to Texas.
And it was much more affordable than the Briarwood School would be! LoL
This was all during the summer and I have to say that they were VERY flexible with my needs and it was always easy to get a hold of someone in the office if my Dad had a question ..
PS - If for whatever you reason you do decide to go back to public school I would highly suggest the Cy-Fair school district.. It's one of the best in Texas.. I personally went to Langham Creek high school which I belive was on .. 529 ? It's been 2 years since I left Houston sorry.. It was an AWESOME school just not the right one for me.. Looking back now I do miss it..

I have had no problem finding excellent jobs with this on my resume - it has no stigma like a GED or some other method would have.. In fact it usually works as an asset that I finished in 2 months .. I am very glad that I chose Texas Tech and highly reccomend their K-12 distance learning program..
If you have any more questions please feel free to message me or email me..

Texas Elite Gymnastics Academy, or TEGA, is a decent small town gym. I think they have a good set of coaches for the little ones (under 4), but they have had a lot of turnover lately. I think that the mom and tot (or dad and tot) classes are really great for the children to work on their gross motor skills.

I have only taken a few courses with South Plains professors, but they truly care about their students. I took a chemistry course with Dr. Yeh, and it was hilarious, but I learned a lot. I think that these professors have more emphasis on teaching and aiding students than at a larger university, where their main priority may be research.

We love Second B. Our child has thrived on the love and attention they give all their little ones. It's a little more expensive than home-based daycares, but so worth it.
Many of their teachers are Early Childhood majors at the University so they are putting to practice what they are learning in school. Each classroom has a lesson plan for each day and parents can view it as they pick up their child.
They incorporate a lot of educational stuff into their day. For example, while waiting for other kids to use the restroom the class will play all sorts of games to reinforce colors and shapes. Some of the teachers speak Spanish to the kids and my son has picked up so much already.
If you are looking for an excellent day care center for your child, this place is the best in Lubbock. Do stop in an have a look around, you will be impressed.

This is an awesome tumbling and cheerleading school. They have a wide variety of classes and times. The location sucks right now because of the construction but it's worth the drive. My daughter goes there and loves it! The coaches are great and care about the kids! The only bad thing was the unexpected costs of a couple of things with the cheerleading team!
