Recently moved to the block. La Poubelle has the best drink prices and best food that I've found in the hood. Really good Happy Hour that includes appetizers... and I just discovered that they have $6 martinis on Mondays now! I'm in.
Pros: fun atmosphere, patio

I love the massages at this place. They really knock the stress out of you. There is a masseuse there that is blind and deaf, and she is the best masseuse that I've ever been to. She leaves me feeling very relaxed, and the effect lasts for days. The facials, on the other hand, I can't recommend as highly. They're decent, but nothing really special, and I think there are better places for the price. I also didn't like that I had a pre-paid facial that was given to me as a gift, and then during the facial I was told I needed to buy some "add-on" products/services if I wanted the best result. I think products to give a deep, quality exfoliation should be included in the regular priced facial, and you shouldn't have to pay extra for them.
Pros: Great massages leave you very relaxed
Cons: For facials, there are better places

I wish I could go to Water Grill all the time but it's too $ for me. I went for Dine LA on Wednesday and had an amazing time. Generous portions. Great fish. I had the Sturgeon, my friend the Organic Salmon. Our waiter (great service) let us know they will be serving $44 Dine LA menu all February! I'll be back.

I lived in LA for nearly 9 years and ate at plenty of sushi restaurants, both high and low end. This may be on the pricier side, but it's well worth the cost. The Hanabi appetizer (soft tuna on crispy rice) is amazing and the plethora of flavorful and creative rolls make for a taste bud's dream.
There is a cool, usually Hollywood-ish crowd at this location, but it's not snooty like some of the other Hollywood places. The service is very friendly and you get your food on the quicker side, regardless of how big the crowd is on a given night.
There are also plenty of great drinks and Japanese beers and sake, and the ambiance and settings make for an awesome experience.
This is a great place to go on a date, hang out with friends before a night of partying, or even bring your family.
I have been here more times than I can remember and have NEVER been disappointed. It's always the opposite - I'm constantly impressed with the high level of quality here in all respects.
Pros: Variety, taste, service, crowd, ambiance
Cons: Reservations usually necessary for prime times

Everything was amazing from the chapel down to the photos. The service we received was outstanding and I would highly recommend this chapel to anyone looking to get married. Not only was this the greatest day of my life but to have everything else that was offered from the chapel just made our night that much better. Thank you to everyone here at the chapel for a memorable evening.
P.S. amazing flowers and photos Thank You!!!!

I have been to all of the expensive, shallow, LA sushi places in town. Not because of the hype, but wanting to find a great sushi place. I found it at Echigo. There's no comparison to any other sushi restaurants in this town. It's as close to Japan as you are going to come. For those who complain about the decor, obviously just don't get it. This place gives you the best sushi in town, and because it's not decorated with all the silly frills, and gimmicks of other restaurants, it concentrates on the most important part. The food. I love wasabi....I didn't put one ounce of it on any of my sushi, because the quality of fish speaks for itself. Don't forget the mouth watering rice that is served with the sushi....I wanted just a bowl of the rice. The blue crab roll is so delicious, that I almost slid right out of my chair. Lucky for me and my husband we live right next door to this place. We will be going back time and time again.
Pros: The food
Cons: none

I typically eat at Taylor's anytime I travel to LA. Their steaks are phenominal, the atmosphere is like stepping back in time and the service is exceptional. This place feels like the type of place you would be seen at 3pm sipping a martini back before we all started working 60 hour work weeks. I love it! The lunch menu is very reasonable for the quality and quantity of the meals. It's worth the drive if you're looking for something classical and well above-par.
Pros: Great food, great service, truly vintage atmosphere
Cons: A little out of the way for most
