The best kept secret in the industry is that you can rent your wedding dress! In Europe, girls hardly ever buy their dress they rent it. One Night Affair is the only location I have found in LA that does this but it is a great idea. At first I was nervous about it working out, being that you don't get it until a few days before the wedding but I picked it up, tried it on, and everything was great. My case was somewhat different than everyones elses. I live in Norway and was looking for a specific dress which cost USD 3000 here, somewhere else for cheaper. This shop sent the dress to Norway, was extremely service minded, delivered the dress in express time and helped me save a huge amount of money!I am sad to hear they do not exist anymore as I have been recomending the shop to other friends who are getting married.

If you have a stain on a dry-clean only item that won't come out try Sterling as they are masters in removing tough stains. Be forewarned however that their prices reflect the quality of work and are much higher than other local cleaners. They also offer pick-up service.

Cake Collection makes wonderful wedding cakes, from the traditional to the sublime (they have a photo album of their work and many of the cakes are amazingly creative). The staff is friendly, tastings are fun, and the cake is delicious. Many flavors to choose from. A number of local reception halls use Cake Collection for their weddings, which is a good sign that their product is top notch.

Embrey Papers is a small boutique that offers high end giftwrap that leans more towards the traditional in terms of style and design (lots of fleur de lis, for example). The card selection is adequate, but the best part of the store is the ribbon. There's an entire rack filled with spools of organza in numerous sizes & colors. It isn't cheap, though, like most items in this part of town. Pens, silver picture frames and candles round out the selection of gifts.
