I brought in my 11 month old dog for urgent care -- a puncture wound. Dr. Hall advised sedating and x-raying would as she could not be certain it was just a bite wound. She also told me she detected a level 2-3 heart murmur and that I should take Tasha to a cardiologist for a full work up. The would was left unsutured, and I paid almost $400.00 for the exam, c=would cleaning x-ray and medication.
I brought Tasha in to her regular vet, who emphatically stated she had no heart mumur (he even called in a second colleague to listen), a stated that the VCA vet probably neglected to make sure my dogs mouth was closed to avoid misidentifying normal breathing sounds. He also told me that Tasha clearly had a dog bite wound, and that the x-rays had been unnecessary.
Needless to say, I will not be taking any of my pets to VCA again. I've since learned of two other after hours vets close by that are excellent. Apparently VCA hire many young vets and does not supervise them; they tend to overdiagnose and run up charges.

I had a terrible experience with this animal hospital. Dr. Farber told me that my bearded dragon, Spike, was healthy and happy, despite the fact that he had been having seizures and chronic diarhea. The hospital ran tests at my request, but treated me like I was over-reacting. They never called with the test results, I had to call and pester for them. Further, these were tests that needed to be re-run after a course of medication -- and no one ever told me that. When I found out, and called to ask when the tests should be re-run, no one ever returned my call.
My beardie -- the one I was told was healthy and happy -- died last week. He was only one year old, and this breed has a life expectancy of ten years.

I am 1,000% happy with my Cocker's (Roxy) post TPLO outcome.
Roxy had her TPLO in November 2006. It's now 8 months post op and you would never even know she had surgery. Tina Owen did her surgery and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. No limp; no post-op issues whatsoever! The best $3,000 I ever spent. And I am NOT complaining about the price! It is what it is. A small price to pay to give my girl back the ability to walk and sniff.....her two favorite things in this world.
VCA West LA is fabulous. They stayed within the original quoted price for the surgery/follow-up care; and the surgeon, Tina Owen, did a stellar job of giving Roxy back her greatest happinesses in life -- walking and sniffing.

I have been taking my animals to VCA on Sepulveda in LA for years. I think that their service overall is good but they have become very expensive. Nonetheless I continue as I do feel that at least when I take my animals in, there are a large number of doctors with various specialties available to work with me on behalf of my animals. Have they made mistakes? Yes, but people will make mistakes and at least by returning when my animal doesn't improve, I always have the choice of another doctor. Do they not return calls...yes, that is a big problem. Largely, the only way they seem to get back to you is if you make an appointment and then they call you once or at most twice as a follow up. But, since they don't bill per call, I suppose this is the reason that they don't return calls that readily.

I am currently seeing Dr. Cretin, who specializes in oncology, as my dog has mutliple myeloma. I switched from City of Angels, because I felt I was lost in a factory there. I hesitated to switch, because of City of Angels reputation, but am thrilled that I did. Dr. Cretin has really taken the time to know me and my dog and his illness. I had 5 visits at City of Angels and I don't think anyone would know us there or misses us there. Dr. Cretin knew us better in 1 visit, that City of Angels knew us in 5.
VCA seems efficient and caring to me. I believe I am getting excellent treatment for me dog and I don't feel lost. Kody and I couldn't be happier here.

I went to the Cincinnati's VCA Hospital with my dog with a compound fracture to his leg. The hospital fixed his leg with a plate and pins. A week later returning on a bandage change the techs dropped my dog in front of my husband and myself resulting in a dis-located hip. So we now have a broken left front leg and a dis-located back right hip. This resulted in surgery again to insert pins and stitch together. He ended up have 3 surgeries on his hip and another on his front leg as it is now bent at an extreme angle with his paw facing to the back. We are sitting at a 8000.00 bill which they have not acknowledged that we shouldn't owe. Their drop resulted in all of the injures. My dog now lays on a mattress in the living room and goes outside only to use the bathroom. I miss my dog, he can't jump, hold a bone, take walks with us, his personality has changed so much as being depressed. I have a sight hound and they are suppose to be ran every day ( I'm a runner ) so I've also lost my running pal. My dog was in a cast for 6 months resulting in the terrible outcome. The first surgery was great but if it gets extensive get out your billfold and don't expect the same dog to come out that went in. I will not go back. They take no responsibility

I had an appointment today with my blind Pekingese dog for his yearly checkup with Dr. Chang, the ophthalmologist.
I was able to get an appointment relatively quickly and the initial consult here was $50 less than other area veterinary ophthalmologists.
This hopspital has a very large staff as it is a multi-specialty facility. Dr. Chang was accompanied by several veterinary intern residents so my dog was examined by several people so I didn't feel like I was hurridly whisked in and out . He answered all of my questions and was very knowledgeable. And I didn't have to wait too long either - a problem I've had with some vet clinics - large or small.
