"Acting is not feeling, Acting is what you do about how you feel." "How do you feel about it, what are you doing about it." Two things said to me when I first went to Janet Alhanti as a student in 1998. Not only has Janet taught me how to work, she has taught me how to live as a person. She is a teacher who is a real person. Hard to find in this town. When I first moved to Los Angeles to achieve my dreams of being an actor I went to The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Which was a waste of time and money. If you want to be a dancer go to the best dance teacher, you want to be a singer go to the best Singing coach, If you want to be an actor go to the best acting coach and that is what I set out to do. I went to many of the top agents in town and asked about who they recommended to study with. They all said Howard Fine, Larry Moss, and Janet Alhanti. I interviewed with all three. I decided to study with Janet, and it was the best decision I have ever made. Janet taught me how to work as an actor. How to understand what the material was about and how I had to live up to the demands of the material. If they are playing the waltz you can't do the cha cha. She taught how to break the material down and do the work, and the more work you put into it is what you get out of it. Most actors think if they learn the lines then they have done the work, or if they cry then they are a good actor. Janet taught me it's not about feeling, but if I understand what the material is about and the circumstances then that will take me to where I need to be. Action and Reaction. Working off one another, listen, relationships and what a relationship really IS, are all things you must do and know to be a good actor. If a person is not a sensitive person, then on stage or film they will not be a sensitive person. And every person is sensitive to themselves, but it is about sensibility. Do you know how we affect each other. Janet told me that my vulnerability was my strength, and not a weakness. I could write a novel on how much I have learned from Janet, like I said not only have I learned and own my craft, but she taught me how to be all that I can be as a person first and foremost. I urge every actor to experience what I have been so truly grateful to experience and learn from one of the greats, and in my opinion is the greatest. Janet told me it's not about being the best, but it's about being good at what you do. Best is a matter of opinion. From Meisner to Alhanti to the people who are lucky enough to get to learn form her. Thank you.
Pros: Janet Inspires you to be all you can be.
Cons: You don't go. You might miss out.

Eureka Review has the best SAT tutors and plans around. If you're really serious about the SATs go for the one on one classes. You get a verbal and a math tutor and I think more than 13 lessons with each of them not to mention books and online resources. With a course like this if you don't do good then you have no hope. They also guarantee that you jump by a certain amount of points or you get a refund. If your child is getting close to that time look into this! Especially with the new SATs that include essays. The offices are in Los Angeles but the tutor as far up as Thousand Oaks and I think Santa Clarita so give them a call!

Check out Barnsdall for cartooning classes--they offered some last year, and may well do so again. Their Junior Arts Center has a pretty big range of art programs for kids, and they're really reasonably priced. I think they're in the middle of a session now, but you can call them to get current info at 323.644.6275. (And their adult classes are fantastic, too!)

Councelor says Grants & Scolarships cover about 90%of tution,10% is Student Loan(s),the man testing entrance exam told me don't go past #20,so he can help me,he fills in answers you pass, isn't that cheating?went 2 financial aid, lady explained tution is $28,950.00 I say Wow I can't afford$19,477 ALL in Loans?!What happened to Grants and Scholarships? She says OH yeah,I forgot 2 deduct $10,000 a fee waiver government approved last yr; $10,000 -19,477=$9,477 "Much better,"Another co-worker who was in the same cubicle stood behind my chair waited to take over she checked my credit & took my paperwork, she began 2 talk about how much I would owe in Loans $19,477,I asked "What happened to the $10,000 deduction?I asked 2 speak with the 1st girl & she tried 2 say I got confused between the grants & loans, all the calculations she wrote on the paper just disappeared. All the grants and scholarships turned into nothing but Loans. At the beg,it was explained 2 me that 90% was covered with grants and the other 10% I owed in Loans. They were not being honest seemed like they were tryin to say anything to get me to sign so I didn't sign ANYTHING! Instead I took the paperwork home & carefully read FINE PRINT the calculations made by the school only show (2) grants toward tution if you overlook the contract they apply for 3 more grants they don't tell you about & only state (2) the pell grant & fseog grant in the contract, what you sign your authorizing the school to cash in on other grants you approve for and it goes directly to them. I don't Recommend this school to anyone, they aren't honest with the financial calculations Loans and Grants, the man cheats for your entrance exam?! Somethings not right with this school!!The finacial Dept was telling everyone in the office I didn't sign up for the school I became very uncomfortable because staff was giving me an unwelcomed look. They were nice and friendly when they thought I was gonna sign up.
