They have a great menu selection however the food was a bit disappointing. Hostess berated us for not calling to notify them that the number in our party changed even though it was a slow night and the restaurant was half empty (went on Thursday night). We tried the salmon carpaccio (too fishy), taglioni with lobster and shrimp (the seafood was overcooked and too chewy), special salad with pear and pecans (good), and mare pizza (way too soggy). We also ordered the tiramisu which was pretty good. The food is decent except for the fact that it is overpriced. The atmosphere is nice though. Hard to find.
Pros: ambience
Cons: price

Whether you sit in the back private room, the main dining room, the outdoor cafe or (my favorite) the diner's bar. You will NEVER have a bad meal here! While it's not the most romantic place to sit I love watching my meal prepared sitting at the diner's bar area overlooking the kitchen.
Let the kids go to the pizza place down the street, this is for adults. Italian and classy. A bit pricey, if you have a complete diner with apetizer, entree, desert and liquour you will not be able to walk away under $100 per person. But with a little smarts you can...share an appetizer and desert, order pasta and watch the alchohol.
To the uninitiated this may be the best meal you've ever had. They try. Great service, wonderful selection and a quiet intimate setting. Other restaurantts of this ilk often do not provide enough room for quiet and romantic conversations...these guys do! And the busboys are very careful not to interupt at the wrong time!~ So bring that special someone and let them work their magic. (Although the bread could be better) The vegetables and potatoes that come with the meat entrees are just right!
With a wide range of choices all uniquely prepared I think you'll find yourself coming back often for an above average experience everytime. It might even end up a favorite!
And if you don't know Larchmont take a nice relaxed stroll up and down and walk off some of your meal.
Pros: great service, food
Cons: none

ive gotten the tagliolini with lobster, shrimp, and peas in a tomato creme sauce (can't remember what it's called at the moment) the last six times i've been there and i have never been disappointed. i've also experimented with various starters- the fried portobello, variations of the caprese salad, and eggplant parmigiana. all have been phenomenal. the risotto and vanilla custard i could live without. speaking of dessert, tonight i had the ricotta cheesecake (the raisins are heavenly- and i dont even like raisins!) with hazelnut icecream. omg!! prices are great, ambiance is great. yay for la luna!
Pros: prices, food, ambiance

Had dinner on a Friday night to celebrate our dog's birthday (yes, that's right). One of the things that already appealed to us was that it was a nice resto w/ an outdoor dining area, good for those w/ dogs. Service was very friendly (hmm, contrary to previous review, all I heard was Italian from the staff), the food tasty, and prices reasonable (though I think it to be more $$$ than $$). 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 1 dessert, 2 glasses wine, 1 coffee $100 (pre-tip).
Pros: Dog friendly, Cozy Ambience, Friendly Staff

The food is overpriced in my opinion. My wife and ate there for the second time and we were not impressed with the food. Although it is decent, the food is not worth the price. The pasta and pizza lacked good flavor. We sat at the chef bar and noticed the all the chef's working were not even Italian. They all spoke Spanish. La Luna is not bad for a local restaurant and does very good business. However there are a handful of good Italian restaurants in LA that surpass this place.

Simply some of the best -- and most honest -- Italian food in L.A. The food is ALWAYS, ALWAYS fantastic. Truly, I've eaten here a tens of times and have never been served anything that was not excellent and clearly made by someone who cares, namely the owner/chef; whom I suspects lives in cupboard as he is almost always there smiling whilst he works. They respect the food and your dining experience w/o making you feel uptight, dressy or casual, no one cares because it's all about the food and warm service.
