Anytime I have out of town guests who want to eat something different, I take them to Versailles, a cuban restaurant off Venice Blvd in Palms/Culver City area. They also have two other locations that I know of--one off La Cienega and pico and the other off sepulveda in Manhattan Beach. Their signature dishes are the garlic chicken or the roasted pork. You will probably sweat garlic for a week, but it's worth it. The line outside always looks long, but it moves fast. Inside the place is very casual...you can bring just a friend or the baseball team and they will still accomodate. Fried yucca is also a favorite. Oh, don't leave your leftovers in the car. Put them in the trunk or your car will also smell like garlic for a week!
