went there for din-din the other night- and Now I realize why it may seem quite in the restaurant or patio on a friday night before 10:30pm- there is live music in the backroom! ahhhh.. that is where everyone is-all the dinner guests and the bar patrons. at 10:30pm they all come out to the rest of the place! the secret room, I never knew existed! funny.... although I enjoy being alone for awhile, I was glad to see the huge crowd emerge from the live music room! After reading so many good reviews, we decided to check the place out...well, first, the place was dead on a Friday night at 9:30p.m. (hint, hint, hint....) after 20 minutes we did not even get a waiter/waitress to serve a glass of water. Very disappointed, we left without even tasting the food... I can only imagine, after such a fiasco. On top of that, the staff was not friendly, and did not even bother to ask why we were leaving, snooty, and uninformed when asked about the live attractions of the place. So I've been here several times for the shows in the backroom- It's a great place for dining- the tables are not on top of each other, the decor is very relaxing, the patio is cute and enclosed so even though it's next to the pkg lot, it's still nice. Went on a Tuesday around seven and there was NO ONE there! we had the whole dining room to ourselves and our own romantic corner with an attentive server and busboy making sure we had everything we needed. Though the menu is small, there is something for a 'basic' person as well as for the adventurous (i.e. the miso cod and wasabit potatoes.) Fallen Chocolate Cake was soooooo good. Definitely a romantic weeknight dinner restaurant. Weekends it has a great bar and amazingly decorated, cozy room to watch intimate shows. Pros: food, service, ambience

We got the after work buzz, had a blast, and spent about $50 bucks for 3 hours of 5 people hanging. Shame we had to go- would have stayed, and paid full price very happily ,especially after the staff hung out with us and made us feel really welcome. *** We also has some of the best wings in town for $5 bucks. Tangier is the place to go in LA where you can order your drinks eat your food and not be bothered by annoying people. The waitresses are down to earth and can handle groups of 20+. We had one waitress for our entire table of over 20 and I never had to wait for a drink or ask about the food. I was visiting Los Angeles on a long trip across the country. I was lucky enough to have a friend of mine suggest we stop by Tangier for a meal, so I did. It was such an amazing place.Not only did we get to enjoy a fantastic dinner ( the rack of lamb special and the Shrimp dish) but we had no idea they had entertainment too! So when we finished up we toured the beautiful rooms and by our surprise we wondered into the red and blue velvet moroccan lounge that was featuring one of the best nights of music we have seen in a long time! Our best night in LA by far! Everything was in one place too(bar, music, entertainment,patio and a dining room).We wish we lived closer-but we sure will be back, and Tangier will be first on the list to visit in Los Angeles!! This is a great place, and I would strongly urge anyone to go to there. Go for the food, for the beautiful space, for the les belles show, or for just a drink-- but go see this place.
