Restaurants like this are all over New York City and the surrounding area but there seems to be a dearth of them in LA. While the food is not revelatory, it is obviously prepared with care and is flavorful and attractively presented.
Seafood is fresh and tasty and the occassional meatball special is truly delish - the meatballs are light and flavorful, not the leaden fare one is often forced to choke down.
Service is attentive and casually personal - we're routinely greeted with a smile by the owners although we are by no means regulars. Prices are more than fare for the large portions.
Affordable, fast and very, very tasty. REAL neighborhood Italian!
Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Parking in back

Having lived in Los Feliz for a number of years, it is hard to describe the value of an instant neighborhood favorite like this. Everything is wonderful about the food and the quaint ambiance (with a cozy patio as well!). Especially great is the service. The wait staff alone is so genunie and knowledgable about the menu and always recommend the most complimentary dishes. There are other Italian options in the village, but none give you that sense of someone welcoming you into their own kitchen like this one.
Pros: Food, Service, Ambience

i wonder what happened to the eggplant parm complainer. i have been frequenting ilcapriccio for about 3 years now & one of my favs is the eggplant parm! it tastes just like my grandma used to make back in brooklyn. virtually everyone that i introduce to the place has become regular patrons & all of their friends as well. my most recent obsession has been to try whatever specials they have to offer. i must admit the service tends to diminish when its very busy but that is totally understandable, the charm of most of the staff & the new owners (especially mamma flora) far surpass having to wait for a table or my dinner. all in all ilcapriccio is one of the best italian eateries on the east side if not all of hollywod. i am pleased & will continue to obsess on the nightly specials! see you there

We went on a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised to find available seating. The menu had a nice variety and the prices were extremely reasonable. The service was great until around 8 PM when the restaurant got very busy but no additional staff was added. Once busy, our waiter couldn't have paid less attention to us! Another drawback was (apparently) the daughter of the owner who came to eat as we were completing our main course but seemed to find it necessary to gawk at the patrons but not speak to them...kind of odd in a city where gawking is discouraged.
Pros: Inexpensive, Parking, Variety
Cons: , Not much flavor, Street Noise

Small but not too, there is patio seating, parking in the back and a big list of specials. Due to the other review, we stayed away from deserts, but one MUST is the black fettuccini - and you can mix and match the pasta and sauce - and they are really nice about it. Make it your reliable neighborhood Italian.

Amazing service, wonderful authentic food and great atmosphere - thank god for Il Capriccio!! Even though the original owners just sold it, they've kept the menu and the service staff. The new owners could be a little less focused on the bottom line (I notice now they serve their own wine and have sales-y stuff on the tables) but overall, this is a great place for fantastic Italian. The squid ink linguini (with cream sauce) is AMAZING.
Pros: service, food, atmosphere

Il Capriccio is a refreshing, cozy but not cramped, family-run gem in the midst of hipster-victim central, Los Feliz.
Bread is yummy and served with herbed oil. Fried calamari easily serves 2 and was very good, but not great. Don't get the steak. I wanted medium-well, got mostly well-done, and the meat quality was Sizzler-esque. Sauteed spinach and roasted potatoes were excellent. Chicken Vesuvio is their signature and worth the wait. The lobster risotto special was very tasty. Chicken marsala and piccata are also good. They make fresh pasta daily.
Creme brulee is great. Strawberry swirl cheese/mousse cake has chunks of real strawberries and a layer of whipped cream and grated white chocolate. Yum.
Service was okay. The waitress was good at first, but we waited 20 minutes for our appetizer and continually asked for water refills.
Calamari was $8. Entrees averaged $10-13. Steak was $15.
Pros: reasonable prices, nice atmosphere, good food
Cons: service just okay, no prime beef

I work all day serving food, six days a week. When I'm done I head over to Capriccio's for the usual: a soup, a salad and Antonio's pasta. My girlfriend and I bring our own wine and like to split dishes so that we have enough room for a slice of Rosemary's delicious zucotto. We have called ahead a few times to reserve a slice so that our dining experience will be complete! We inevitably end up talking to the people at the table adjacent to us and round out our experience of great food and service with wonderful conversation about all and sundry.
Pros: flavorful food, terrific service, bring your own wine
Cons: stomach too small, not enough zucotto, patio/ smokers only
