Best burgers in town
This place makes the best burgers. It can get very crowded at lunchtime, so be prepared for a wait. Also, parking is pretty limited. If you get lucky, you can snag one of the half dozen meters in front. The place feels like it has been frozen in time. Old fashioned food, simple menu, great service. They only offer a very few choices, including a "steak burger" (which is what we know as a hamburger). Save room for pie with ice cream.

I can't stress enough
how awesome this place is. People who don't like this place just don't get it. The burgers are awesome, I'm always sad when I get too full before I can finish mine. The fries are always perfect, they have pie that I would kill for. The waiters are great. My boyfriend has given them all nicknames. Waiting for a seat is like a primal, terratorial thing. If you've never been, go there right now. Unless it's a Monday. Then go tomorrow.

Worth the wait or standing time
The Apple Pan has been around forever, and so have the employees that work there, most of them look like they are in their 60's and 70's. Always a challenge to get a seat at lunch or dinner time, the Apple Pan is worth the wait for their Hickory Burger! Fresh off the grill, these guys know how to make a burger. Part of the charm is that it is small, tough to find a seat, and only accepts cash. The only seats are in a square shaped bar surrounding the grill. It doesn't have to pretend to be a relic of the 1950's like Jonny Rockets; it is a relic and totally authentic. It is open until Midnight and there is usually a line. The fries are made in pure lard, so if you don't like to eat Pig derivatives, than you think twice about chomping into the thick, golden brown fries. If I am anywhere in West LA, I would never go anywhere else for a burger, even if I have to eat it in my car parked in a metered space on Pico Boulevard. Plus The pie is great.

OK Burgers
Well, the burgers are not bad, but not exceptionally good as it is claimed to be in many guidebooks in Los Angeles. The servers' attitudes are genearlly quite mean(maybe that is intentional), trying to be corky. You can get a Six-Dollar burger at Carl's Jr. with the cashier at least greeting you nicely. Limited seats at the bar only, so be prepared to wait.
