Pink's Hot Dogs

i have to agree with the pros and cons posted by others on this page. this place is great if you want to try a hot dog with a twist. they do have a long list of choices when it comes to your hot dog. I cant give it more than three stars bc the food does not make up for the long line and lack of seating space. it is a l.a. landmark and you should try it at least once. i will continue to go back ocassionally. more

If you are a hot dog fan, you are going to love Pink's hot Dog Stand in Los Angeles. But if you are not, I promise you are going to be won over by Pink's. It is so popular that the times I have gone the line is so long it wraps around the building and into the next parking lot. The wait time isn't that long, though, and besides, it's well worth it. People have been put off by the long lines, but please rethink that. You get mustard, sauerkraut and sweet red onions, just like those famous hot dog stands in NY or Hollywood. I've tried pink's and i think it was too hyped up. Maybe seeing the consistently long line hyped it up for me too much. I actually think the hot dog carts on the streets of hollywood taste better. more

I like mustard, sauerkraut and those sweet red onions on my hot dog, just like you get in Manhattan. I think you are either a hot dog person or you aren't and I am a huge fan. Sometimes the line is so long it wraps all the way around the building and into the parking lot. It is always worth the wait, but if you get there on the early side around 11am you only have to wait about 15 minutes. My mouth waters every time I drive by thinking about that first good bite. I have never tried anything but the hot dogs. Why would you? If you don't want to wait in line - Boar's Head hot dogs (good snap) and sauerkraut are available at Ralph's on Doheny and Beverly. more

If I had to choose between Polish sausage and Italian sausage, I'd definitely go for the Polish (with the exception of pizza toppings, of course). I'm not a big fan of store-bought polish sausage like Hillshire Farms or whatever big name brand is in the meat section. I like the "homemade" variety found at my favourite delicatessens. For the ultimate Polish Sausage, visit Pink's on the corner of Melrose and La Brea in smeLA, California. You'll not only get a great sausage or dog, but you may even see a celebrity. It's said to be quite a hot spot for sightings. Though I doubt Jessica Alba is all that big on the sausages... Hmmm... Or maybe she is. more

Don't let the long line discourage you from trying out Pink's Hot Dog Stand. Yes, there is a wait in line, usually one hour to get your food (from the initial wait to getting the actual food), but your stomach will be happy in chowing down their delicious food. They're well known for various hot dogs, usually named after a famous person, but you can also get hamburgers and a vast array of side orders from onion rings to chili fries. Parking may be hectic at times, but with a little luck, you should be set. more

Ok, when I first moved here 5 years ago, I saw the long longs for the hot dogs here. And then I read the "Best Of" every year and there s Pink's. Ok, so I stood in the long *ssed line and finally got my hands on 2 (just in case it was that good-I wasn't about to stand in line again). I got plain ones, I wanted to taste the dog itself, nto the chili, sauerkraut or anything else. It was a freakin' HOT DOG. I've stood in line in NYC gladly for Gray's Papaya. In that "Fools Rush In" movie with Selma Hayek, you can see why she flew it in for that Friends dude. Not these. I dont' get it. And you can even end up having your car towed to get one, the parking here STINKS!!! It's so bad that they had to out up signs to tell you not to park your car right in front where it would make sense to because there is no parking there most of the time. Then their shoebox of a parking lot stinks and you can't park by the flower shop next to it, either. Go to Weinerschneitzel, it's the same thing and you can stay in your car. more

Pinks is something that everyone should stop in and do at least once. It was started from a single hot dog cart in 1939 in the same location and has grown into an icon. You can always expect a wait time of a half hour or longer on a typical day, with the line out front and standing outside in open air until it's time to pay. They have a lot of different concoctions of burgers and hot dogs, and several made popular by the entertainers of or before our time. To be honest, the food isn't fantastic by all means, but it does carry something of originality to it, and a piece of nostalgia. The parking lot is attended out back, though you can hardly ever get back there to park because it fills up for it's size. Another drawback to the location is that the streetlights at the intersection do not have arrows for turn and you can sit there watching the crowd grow from your turning lane facing the stand. more

This is a very popular hot dog stand in Hollywood, with very good hot dogs. The only downfall is that there is usually always a long line, no matter what time it is. But if you've never eaten there before it's worth your wait. They have lots of special hot dogs named after things in Hollywood. If you are in the area I advise you to stop by and try their hot dogs. more

if you ever go down labrea and melrose.... youll see a line of people.... that line leads to pinks......... the most popular and hiipest place to grab a hot dog.... from early in the morning to late in the evening- there always a line... it might be a short line or an endless line.... it just depends.,... the food is legendary/ everyone knows that.... try it for yourself.... worth the wait in line...... more

Pink's Hot Dog Stand is famous for it's crazy hot dog contraptions. Their is usually a long line to grab a dog, and parking is usually a problem. Some hot dogs are pretty tasty, but others are down right gross. So don't get too brave and you're better with sticking with something somewhat normal. more

This place is cool if you're hanging around partying it up in LA and you get hungry at night and you've never been. I know some people that frequent this hot dog stand, but mostly it's a tourist attraction. Go just to say you've been, but don't expect incredible food. It's only really worth it if you already happen to be in the area, too. And of course everything tastes much better after you've been partying all night... more

When I went at night, the line for this hot dog stand was way too long. After trying my hot dogs, I didn't think that it was worth the time and money. Although, going to Pink's would only be a good experience...so i can say, "I've been to Pink's." Overall, the hot dogs are ok, nothing too special about them. more

I have no problem being honest about this place and putting it down because they make trillions of dollars every day anyway. Here’s the deal: it’s really cool in LA to stand in line for something, even if it stinks. Like a sloppy hot dog with little flavor. But if you want to wait three hours (I am not exaggerating at all) for a dirty hot dog, have fun. Not as good as Carnie’s more
