Going here was an incredible experience. Although I was hungry for most of it, I enjoyed the special buddhist exhibit they had up when I was there. Admission was free for students and so is membership. You can come here to study exquisite art, or just to wander around and wonder in amazement. I have been here only once, I certainly look forward to the next time that I go to LACMA.

First of all, I love coming here after I think it is 5 pm and entry to almost all areas is free. They have a beautiful layout and in the Fall there are beautiful Jazz concerts and great specialty nights to wander around with friends or lovers. The visiting art displays are great, and the permanent collections are worth visiting over and over again. I personally just love LACMA on evenings to wind down from a busy week and see some great art.

LACMA has a kids exhibit -- it seems to change every six months or so and is always challenging and engaging for kids.

I went there recently to see the Gajin Fujita exhibit. The more modern art wasn't where it normally would be because of a traveling exhibit that was arriving soon. The price is only five dollars, which is very cheap considering that you could catch a live classical music show at the museum on any given night.

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is a perfectly nice museum and is well worth visiting. That said, it's not really good enough considering we are talking about Los Angeles County. The holdings are interesting, but not spectacular. The programming is good, though, especially the Friday night jazz series in the courtyard and the Sundays Live chamber music series, both free. They attract and curate good exhibitions as well.

LACMA has a very interesting permanent collection. It is one of the biggest museum in Southern California. The interesting part is the exhibits. They often change and have very famous exhibits coming over. Recently they had King Tut which was great! In the evenings, they sometimes have performances, shows... you can check their website for more updated information. The ticket is $9 but every tuesday after 5pm it's free! Worth to go the extra mile for it!

If a traveling visitor to Los Angeles or a current resident, you should definately visit the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) at least once. They hold an extensive catalog of fine art and modern art. They also often host special film previews and music concerts. On some nights they also will have jazz performances others will have classical performances. Also at their movie theatre at the museum, they put together many great programs showcasing classic films. Many of these films are nice Tuesday matinees for only two dollars. On the topic of price, the museum does offer free visitation hours everyday after five as well as second Tuesday of each month (for the complete day). I believe parking is free after seven at night. They are just down the street from some other great Los Angeles landmarks, such as the Los Angeles Farmers' Market on 3rd Street and Fairfax. LACMA is located at Fairfax and Wilshire Blvd. It is also adjacent to the famous La Brea Tar Pits. Currently they are hosting the extremely popular King Tut exhibit. It will be gone soon, and other special galleries and/or exhibits will replace it. They are also exhibiting a wonderful collection of the works shared between Cezzane and Pisarro. The museum is quite large and offers a lot to view. Easily a trip to the museum can take up several hours. If you only have time or interest in one museum in Los Angeles, make it the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

While I never really seem to remember what I see at museums, I do remember when a museum has special events on campus. A couple of events that I have really enjoyed with my toddler daughter is jazz on the courtyard, movie night on the lawn, and painting in the children's wing. The children's section had numerous stations set-up where you can touch sand with moving images, see yourself on screen, draw and paint on small easel boards. But best of all, LACMA has a program where children under 18 get in free with an accompanying adult. So, we will have more than a decade to enjoy this museum over and over again!

A place you should go to visit, open the senses to beauty never a waste of time. Contemporary complex of 5 buildings, very nice and broad exposition with good coverage for every period. The interiors and lay-outs show taste. Was surprised to see it in LA. The art was very beautiful.
