This museum is GREAT! It is free admission, and everyone there is exquisite. This museum really defines what you should find at a museum, with a wide range of internationally renowed art. The view from the top balconies provide an overlook of los angeles that is truly amazing. I recommend this museum to anyone who is looking for a good time, or an art enthusiast.

This fabulous, recently-moved and entirely new indoor-outdoor museum is the wealthiest in the world. Admission is free, you just pay parking. You park and take a tram up to the actual museum; the outside area lets light pour in, and from up on the hills you can see the skyscrapers of Los Angeles. The restaurants offer outside dining. The galleries are separated, and feature amazing examples of Western art including fine impressionist pieces, Roman artifacts, paintings from the Middle Ages, and furniture from the 18th century. Temporary exhibits in the past have featured exhibits such as Rembrandts and manuscript illuminations. What's possibly more amazing than the art itself is the architecture of the museum. It's slick and modern, and its indoor-outdoor approach allows breath-taking views of the surrounding areas. Worst thing was its location. Knowing the L.A. area, unless you're already really close-by, you're going to run into serious traffic driving through West L.A. to get there. Nevertheless, it is definitely worth the trip!

The Getty Museum has got to be one amongst my favorite museums in Los Angeles! I don't know if they change their art or how often they change their art but I remember exactly how my favorite painting looked like as it hung on the wall of the museum. (I bought a poster of that painting but I can't find it!) In addition to all the lovely art, the landscape is truly breathtaking! There are roses, all different types of flowers, plants, trees, streams, etc that it kind of seems like the landscape is an artistic piece in its own! There's also plenty of shade where you can sit down and enjoy "nature" at the museum. The Getty also features many workshop stations for kids where they get to make their own art pieces that they can take home. All in all, I really recommend this museum!

This museum is amazing! This is the Disneyland of museums. The museum is so large that you really can't view it all in one visit unless you go through it very quickly! The museum is about five or six different buildings, each with different themes and items. They do offer rotating displays throughout the year and each one is more interesting than the other. Parking is $7 per car but no admission for the museum. There is a little tram that takes you from the parking structure to the grounds. There is a cafeteria and many little shops and coffee places situated throughout the grounds. A must see visit when in the area. There are actually two locations. This particular one in Los Angeles and another in Malibu.

The Getty center is definitely worth the visit! Not only is their permanent collection incredible but the building/garden/view itself is already breathtaking! First after you park your car (limited spot so inquire in advance or go by MTA bus) you take a little tramway that takes you up the hills to the museum. The view is incredible. You can stroll in the japanese garden and just sip a coffee there. It really feels like you're escaping from the frenzy of LA.

The location is beautiful and the museum itself is a great place. they obviously put a lot of work into this place and its a huge clean place with great architecture. the place houses lots of classic pieces, so don't expect modern art.

The Getty Center is a beautiful place for a day trip. Admission is free and it is huge. Roam the many galaries and make sure to visit the gardens and take in the amazing views. Parking on site is $5, but you can park on the street down the hill a bit and take the #14 Big Blue Bus for $.50. Plan on allowing most of a day to really enjoy it. They also hjage a great interactive area for chidren where they can dress up like paintings, etc.

I went here last weekend with some friends for the first time. Wow! The architecture of this place is amazing, and so are the gardens. There are a couple of cafes where you can eat, but also some really nice picnic spots (that's what we did). It's free to get in, and parking is only $7 per carload. There are beautiful gardens and some amazing views of the city, and the museum offers some top-notch paintings, sculptures, and many other kinds of art. There are several free tours and they also do special events. This is something I will definitely do again.

The Getty museum is one of those places where I will take all my visiting friends new to Los Angeles. On a clear day, you have panoramic views from downtown LA to the beach. While I never really seems to spend much time actually looking at the art, I truly enjoy the architecture and the gardens. The museum is very open to kids running around and "learning" in the hallways about art. They have family programs and a special kid's exploration room. They also have periodic music and dance performances in an amazing hall where the balcony seats could hear a pin drop on the stage clearly. They have an amazing restaurant onsite which shares the same views and the food is excellent, however you'll probably pay about $50 per person with food and drinks. Entrance to the museum is free, however parking is $7. Parking is located at the bottom of the hill and visitors ride a tram uphill to the museum.
