Palermo is a friendly, neighborhood Italian restaurant with decent food. Skip the forgettable (okay, it was GROSS!) caesar salad and go straight for the pizza rosa -- it's delicious and definitely the standout item on a menu of fairly typical Italian fare.
Pros: inexpensive, friendly service
Cons: parking, often crowded

as someone else mentioned here, the pizza appetizer is awesome and really convinces you to buy a whole pie! i love the wine samples while you're waiting to be seated (which will be the case on weekend evenings). the location is great, right next to a theater, bookstore, and several other odds-n-ends stores. i must say they make a mean martini, as well. the actual dishes don't blow me away, but if you sample the expansive variety of so-called "italian restaurants" in los angeles, you'll know this has to be one of the goods. great wait staff. love the ceiling paintings!
Pros: great service, great location, extras (pizza, wine)
Cons: food is "fair", usually a wait, seating sorta cramped

There is no way I could put into words how wonderful this place is. Great food, the best service in town and a traditional home-style flair that brings us back at LEAST once a week!! Your complimentary Pizza Rosa (Fresh warmed tomatoes and a fantastic trademarked mixture of cheeses that I have found nowhere else on EARTH served on the best crust this side of Sicily) is enough to tempt you into the pizza - which is unrivaled in LA. The pastas are good - but save room for dessert - the tiramisu is unparalleled!
DO NOT PASS GO - Do yourself a favor and make this a freqent destination!
Pros: Friendly Service, Excellent Food, Great Atmosphere!
Cons: NONE

I love the atmosphere at Palermo - cool and casual. Always makes for good people watching and the complimentary port wine takes the bore out of waiting for a table. I always order the half sizes on dinners because the portions are huge. I find the food mediocre, however, particularly the chicken dishes.

The title says it all. You can stay busy w/o feeling sketchy. Go here to laugh with alot of friends but the food will leave you wanting, especially the chicken Diane-gross. They give you alot of food and I hear the pizza is good- but I haven't tried it- Definately a good pizza atmosphere. People who are gushing over this place in thier reviews are not LA natives. Believe me- we know better.
Pros: inexpensive, alot of food, very busy, very gay
Cons: not so good entrees, parking uugggghhh, very busy

I no longer live in Los Angeles. I have been searching for 9 years to find an Italian restaurant that has Lasagna Bolonese as delicious as Palermos. My husband and I both believe Palermos has the best Lasagna Bolonese in the USA. I've tasted others that are good but are not up to the test of Palermos. USA'S BEST LASAGNA BOLONESE!!!!
