This was really good sushi from a lover of CA rolls, Unagi and Miso Soup. I am not the most adventurous, but I know what I like ... and that is, clean - affordable - quality sushi. This place fits the bill. In fact, I found it through citysearch and saw all of the fantastic reviews and thought, why not? So, I did and here I am adding to them. There are a couple of bad reviews, ignore them. This place is solid! There is also some REALLY cool shopping in the mall, so plan some extra time and have a look around. Pros: Clean, Nice, Good Cons: None

Wow! Better than I've had in Japan and that's where the fish is coming from. How's that possible? Started with the King Crab Sunomono appetizer is fantastic it had the sea salt flavor from the sea. Their uni is so sweet and fresh. Love their live sweet shrimp. Most times I get the heads fried like popcorn shrimp. Their spanish mackerel is soooooo good with grated ginger and ponzu sauce. It's on par if not better with the best sushi bars on westside which I normally pay $100+ pp at 70-80% of the price. The owner, Tomoko dressed in blue is super friendly and is knowledgeable about food. Pros: Fish Selection, Super Fresh Fish, Authentic Cons: Didn't know about it earlier.

Sushi Go 55 consistently has the freshest and best-tasting fish I've had in LA. This is a traditionalist's sushi place - if you're looking for out-of-the-box bizarro rolls, go somewhere else. But for straightforward, high-quality sushi and sashimi, you can't go wrong here. I'm shocked to read stories about sub-par service - my experience is that the service is attentive without being oppressive. But it all comes down to the fish, which is where Sushi Go 55 really shines. Pros: quality and freshness of fish, service, laid-back atmosphere Cons: none

I went to Sushi Go 55 after hearing about it on NPR's Off Ramp. I recommend sitting at the bar and letting the sushi chef prepare what he wants for you, omakase style. The fish was fresh, the sushi very flavorful, but definitely not for the faint of heart! If you're bold, try the live sweet shrimp sushi. As its name implies, the shrimp are killed right in front of you and go from aquarium to your plate in less than 30 seconds. It's meant to be eaten raw, still squirming! Enjoy!

I really don't know if I would come here again. The food was excellent (I was surprised by how good it was actually) but the service was very below average. The servers took a long time to let me order even when I waved them over. The location is annoying to get to but wouldn't hurt this place if their service was any better. The food would be the only reason for me to come here again. Go if you want good food and dont mind bad service.
