My friend introduced me to this place and it was amazing!
We ordered a few entrees and they were all great! I tried things I never would have ordered on my own. We had radish cakes (amazing!), squid salad (spicy and amazing!), wonton soup with pork (I LOVED IT) and a noodle dish with shrimp pork and chicken...pad see ew maybe? It too was wonderful. Everything was quick and tasted delicious. Itis a small place always alot of people there but weve never waited more than 5 minutes for a table. It's cash only don't forget!
Pros: Fast, tasty and cheap
Cons: Cash only

I go to Daikokuya with my gf at least once every month. There is only 1 kind of ramen here -- the daikoku ramen. The ramen is too good that it worths the 1+ hour wait. I've tried most of the famous ramen restaurants in LA and this is definitely one of the bests.
btw, this place is called Daikokuya instead of Dakokuya
Pros: awesome ramen
Cons: parking, and long line

With so many small Japanese eateries around the area, we weren't sure if this would be another typical ramen house (same relative taste/broth for everything). When we stepped in, we were kindly greeted in Japanese by the waitress and promptly seated. I ordered the Tanmen Ramen which was stir-fry vegetables with Ramen swimming in hot soup with the choice of ground pork or chicken, and a side order of gyozas. The service was extremely fast, and the food arrived steaming in front of us- perfect for a cold day. The stir-fried veggies and meat were topped on the ramen, and were extremely fresh. The gyozas were flavorful, but not greasy. The place is clean, comfortable, and inexpensive for the portions that they serve. I barely finished half my bowl, but it doesn't detract from the delicacy of the food. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a hot bowl of ramen at a casual sit-down place. The only bad thing is that customers have to go outside and around the store to use the restroom.
Pros: generous portions, light but flavorful
Cons: no restroom, small space

I love Noodle Planet and will always love Noodle Planet. They have Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese and more... all kinds of noodle dishes, friend rice and much more. Staff is friendly and service is very good. Just wish they would accept credit cards (even if they charged 3%-5% more as an option for customers). Very casual atmosphere so not known for ambiance but a cool, casual, fun place to go with friends. Strongly recommend.
Pros: Tasty Food. Inexpensive. Good Value. Casual.
Cons: Ambiance. Cash only.

I've been here a ton of times, and I always get the spicy egg drop ramen. The soup is like the chinese egg-drop soup, but with spice! I prefer that to the original miso-soup ramen. There's a small parking lot in the back. you should note the place isn't open on Wednesdays.
Pros: good ramen
Cons: small place

I have been to Yabu on pico so many times. What I like about Yabu is their authentic dishes for reasonable prices. They have variety of foods including vegetarian dishes, so its a perfect place for families and friends.
Actually I was at Yabu when this rude guy (the previous reviewer 2 below) had a big argument with the sushi chef. I don't know how that happened, but apperantly he didn't like the fish he ordered. When you order something, and if you didn't like the dish, maybe you can ask nicely to change with something else. But just to ask this is already rude, but it is acceptable if you ask nicely. But this guy stood up and walked to the chef and yelled at the chef 'this is terrible! im not gonna pay for this!'. Wow, all the customers there were like 'omg, what the...?', and his wife was trying to stop him, and crying from embarassing. And yeah, he was saying he was gonna write about this on the internet, and here I found it. haha
Anyways, I am big fan of Yabu, and so are my family and friends. Yabu is great. If you wanna enjoy authntic quality Japanese food, then go to Yabu.

Must try the Sushi Dinner Meal, which contains the chef's choices. Delish! Our favorite was the monkish pate, which is something one would never think about ordering, but it tasted exquisite! Also the sake flight was a fun way of trying sake.
Pros: Food, parking, service
Cons: Can get a little noisy

Mr. Ramen is perfect for vegetarians who crave great ramen--they make just about any bowl vegetarian. They also have tasty curries and other dishes. The bowls can be a little expensive (about $8 or so) but overall the service is great and the food even better. There's a really sweet waitress there with crazy hair and she's always nice about making things vegetarian. A great noodle bar!
Pros: Veggie friendly ramen, good service, great food

I have lived near Yokohama all my life and it was by far my most favorite Ramen house here in America. hen one day when i was in Japan they literally disappeared and they are not there anymore. It was replaced by this really bad restaurant called asian-ya. If you want good ramen then the next closest place that is very good is Ramen-ya on Olympic 3 blocks west of sawtelle next to the frame store.
Pros: Great food, good atmosphere
Cons: Not there anymore

This is one of my favorite places for food. It's def not a good place to go if you want a 'restaurant' experience but if you just wanna grab some good, cheap food, then try it. I had their beef panang, and their beef pad see ewe. Both were decently priced and tasted good. The drinks are amazing. They offer some of the cheapest boba drinks in the area, and they taste great. I'd highly recommend their fruit smoothies and their fusion iced teas. I agree with others about the service. I went once for dinner, and there was only one server (but the place was dead, so go figure.) During lunchtime, they were super packed, but I only waited fifteen minutes for my take out and I just walked in. Maybe you'll get served faster if you stand by the counter. That's what I did. Overall, the price, drinks, and variety can't be beat.
Pros: Food, boba, price, variety
Cons: Go for the food, not the atmosphere or service
