Have you visited the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, California? If not, its a great place to spend the afternoon looking at impressive paintings, looking at books in the bookstore, and viewing the drawings. The perfect day to visit is Thursday, as its free for all visitors and parking is 3.00. There are over 45,000 items to view. My favorite piece is Mary Cassat's Summertime where two women are viewing the ducks.

The Armand Hammer Museum is located at Wilshire and Westwood Boulevards, in hailing distance of UCLA. One half of the exhbition "Masters of American Comic Art" is currently showing there, and I highly recommend it. The part of the exhibition features comic strip art, while the half at MOCA focuses on comic book art. I highly recommend it, but you have to see it before March 12th when it closes. Parking is very easy, you pay $3 validated in the garage underneath the museum.

The Hammer museum is conveniently located in the Westwood village, so you can take a stroll and then conveniently go to lunch after. The museum is free on thursdays so it's pretty cool to come check it out. The permanent collection is ok and they change the expos quite often so you might want to check online first if you''re interested in them. It also has a pretty nice bookshop for art afficionados. you can also bring a book and sit on their terrace. It's pretty nice for a relaxing afternoon.

Armand Hammer had collected many incredible and priceless pieces of art. His catalog of incredible paintings includes works from Van Gogh, Monet, and many others. The collection is not as extensive as that of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) but does have many important and interesting pieces. It also has several galleries of rotating exhibitions that are usually quite nice and worth the trip alone. Also, the museum is often a great deal. If you are a student, bring you student ID, admission is free. Also, if possible visit during the summer or on a Thursday; again, admission is free during those times. Otherwise, adult general admission is only five dollars - a slightly scaled down version of that of many other museums. Above all, the Hammer's location rates higher than anything else. Westwood Village is a fun, quaint little village that can entertain for the entire day. It is filled with many neat movie theatres, small one of kind restaurants, and the beautiful campus of UCLA. Make a day of walking around the campus, going to a movie, and the museum. And above all, while parking is extremely hard to find - at all or cheap - the Hammer does offer validated parking that often is never even checked. So albeit marked that only the first few hours of visitation to the Hammer, when leaving the parking structure, visitors are often not charged (at least in my several visits). The museum's collection and its location within the small Westwood Village, make the museum are worthy trip.

The location is clean and classy. I don't remember how much it cost without a student ID, but it shouldn't be that much.

The Armand Hammer Museum is a great little museum located bu the UCLA campus. It has both a permenant collection and also several roatating collections. Thier permenant collection is heavily weighted towards impressionist painting including several Van Gogh's. The rotating collection is always something unique. The museum is small enough that you could visit every exhibit in one day and not worry about missing anything. Admission is free if you have a student ID and I believe during summer admission is free as well. If you are in the area and have any inkling towards an interest in art, I would definitely reccomend checking out the Armand Hammer Museum .

It's free with a student ID, and right now admission is free during the summer. It's not a big place, but they make use of all the space. For example, the lobby space and the stairwell to the rest of the museum has a rotating display of emerging artists. The Hammer Project series makes use of this difficult space. For the permanent collections, since I'm partial to Impressionism, I'm quite happy to find that they have quite a few pieces by van Gogh and Monet in their permanent collections. The whole museum is not that big, and you can probably visit all the galleries in one day, but it's worth it to go back again for different rotating exhibits.

Hammer museum is located near UCLA. Their bookstore often has a lot of new stationeries. There are 4 display areas. One is kept constant, which shows paintings in 1800s includes impressionists’ and Daumier’s paintings. One room is often for group show, some of well know artists’ pieces will be seen. There is one hall way area often display something interesting. Artists create their projects by using this site. For example, Pae White’s feather paper cascaded from the high ceiling of this hall down to visitors’ feet the and another artist current exhibit his iceberg’s mural on the hallway’s wall. They are quiet breathtaking. I recommend people to go to see these contemporary art projects especially this summer is free for every visitor.

The first time I went to this museum was just recently this year. I was completely amazed by the collections of art that they had. Im usually more into contemporary art, but this museum really opened my eyes to a lot mroe than just contemporary art. I would recommend this museum to anyone who has the slightest bit of interest in art or are looking to purse art as a hobby or profession.

The Armand Hammer Museum in Westwood is a wonderful escape from theu hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. They have wonderful exhibits, and manage to combine both classic and modern art. The photography exhibit was amazing, and their sculptures are some to marvel at. The indoor courtyard is so serene it makes you feel like you've been lifted out of downtown and placed somewhere in the countryside. An excellent day trip. Free for students.
