I love korean bbq and usually go to koreatown to get it. However, I was really not in the mood to drive so I tried Koba. Yes of course it's pricier than ktown but I still thought the flavor was good. It's cleaner than a lot of ktown spots too. It's a good option when you don't want to drive.
Pros: convenient for westsiders, clean, good flavors
Cons: pricier than ktown

Quite expensive for the meal.... 1 order of Kalbee was $15 and we got only 1 sparerib. The BBQ wasn't getting hot enough and the meat turned into a watery mess. (Real Kalbee gets a delicious crispy crust.) When we tried to turn up the heat, a waitress got alarmed and came over to turn it back down. I ordered the kimchee hot stone rice bowl... there was barely any kimchee in the bowl.
The service was interesting... we had this teen waitress asking us to guess how they made their salad dressing because it was so delicious. I am sure it was because it was there grand opening and the staff was excited about it.
All in all, I'd rather drive the extra 15 minutes to Koreatown.
Pros: Close to my house
Cons: Expensive

The worst Korean food ever..... I'm Korean and I'm really embarrassed by the cuisine offered. For all non-Koreans - this is NOT representative of Korean cuisine. First and foremost, 1 order of Kalbee was $15 and we got 1 sparerib! The BBQ wasn't getting hot enough and the meat turned into a watery mess. (Real Kalbee gets a delicious crispy crust.) When we tried to turn up the heat, a waitress got alarmed and came over to turn it back down. (Perhaps they are trying to save on the gas bill?) I stopped myself from trying my husband's order b/c I knew there wasn't enough meat already as it was. I ordered the kimchee hot stone rice bowl... and marvelled where the kimchee was. (Kimchee is REALLY inexpensive and I couldn't believe they skimped out marinated cabbage.)
The service was horrendous... we had this teen waitress demanding that we play this game with her guessing how they made their salad dressing and telling us it was so delicious. All we wanted to do was eat our food.
All in all, I'd rather drive the extra 15 minutes to Koreatown and get the real thing. If I want a quick fix for my Korean cravings, I'll go up the Hawaiian BBQ joint up on Santa Monica and Bundy - the strip mall Kalbee is WAY better.
Pros: empty, seating was easy
Cons: food, service

Let me put this review in a simple way: food quality: 5/10 ; service: 6/10, price: 2/10. Koba charges customers with price listed as those high-flying Korean BBQ place in K-town but serves low-end meat and food with the quality no better than Yoshinoya rice bowl ( a chain store of Japanese fast food known for their beef bowls)! I will never go there again and I DO NOT recommend it to anyone who knows what to expect with the price found on the menu at Koba. Koba even can't make a "just- alright" glass noodle dish. I'm an Korean and I love BBQ and I believe I am qualified to put down these comments that are brutally TRUE.

My wife and I finally decided to try this place out after driving by it a few times. We were skeptical going to Korean BBQ outside of Ktown but it was pretty good. We ordered naeng myun (cold noodle) and kalbi (short rib). They were both good and the meat was good quality but no need to order marble, just order regular kalbi. We're definitely going back again.

1. Gas grill and no grill plate changes at all but just scary wet towl wiping on the grill plate!!! Even the burnt residues can be seen before we start he dinner!!
2. Side dishes of kimchi and other cold stuffs were not served at first but after the meat was put on the over-heated grill plate.
3. Terrible side dishes - Jap Chae and Beef soup. Both almost 10 bucks but small serve with wrong flavors. I'm originally from Korean and I know what I am expecting when I order these two common and traditional dishes.
4. All-right quality meat ( mostly frozen, not selected section, not naturally aged). The sliced beef ( $9.99) come with 7 tiny pieces of FROZEN beef while all the blxxd came out and got burnt right away after being place on the grill plate!! Terrible serving and meat preparation!!
5. Awkward service.
Seriously, by pating similar price, I'd rather to drive to Soname in K-town. The reason I mentioned soname but not other famous BBQ place is just simply becoz Koba doesn't deserve to be placed with any pro BBQ restaurant at all!!! Soname is an ordinary family restaurant for koran BBQ and the interior decoration, meat, service, even side dishes are FAR BETTER than Koba with the similar prices!!!!!
I will NEVER go back to Koba nor recommand it to any of my friends who know what they expect to eat at a real korean BBQ place!
Pros: convinient parking
Cons: terrible food with ridiculous prices

I went to Koba for dinner 2 weeks ago and was surprised how nice the restaurant is inside (seriously, you can't tell from the outside when you're parking in the Wamu lot) We got a couple orders of the Galbi/short ribs along with a bibim bop and they were absolutely DELISH! The service was a little lacking, but to be fair the waitress said they had only been open for a week. I've been cravin bbq so might try them for lunch tomorrow.
Pros: A+ Food, parking was easy
Cons: Service was a bit slow but they did just open.

I was under the impression that the point of a grill on the table was to allow the diner to cook their own food at their own pace. Apparently all the other Korean BBQ restaurants I have been to have been doing it the wrong way by allowing me to prepare my food. If i wanted someone to cook my food for me I certainly would have not chosen a Korean BBQ restaurant. After i made it painfully obvious to the staff that i would like to be left alone (and i do mean alone as they sat me and my date in the back away from every other diner) they did not return untill 20 minutes after we had finished eating. We also had to eat off of our salad plates as we were not giving clean plates for our meat. This being said, I understand this is a new restaurant and has some kinks to work out. The food was very good quality(we had short ribs, outside skirt and the seafoodd platter) and reasonably priced at $45 for the two of us. I will go back as it is in the neighborhood and much cheaper then local japanese bbq joints(Gyu Kaku, Manpuku), but i hope i will be treated as a regular patron and not a five year old whos not allowed to touch the grill.
Pros: Quality meats, reasonable prices
Cons: Dont put a grill on the table if your just going to cook my food for me
