Every Wednesday and Friday you'll find us here. Wednesdays are no corkage and George will keep your glass filled, Fridays get a little crazy but are always a blast. You can do a tasting of 5 wines (usually 2 whites and 3 reds for $15) or just go with the heavy pour by-the-glass. The wines they find are truly inspired, inexpensive and delicious. The cool thing is you can bring home a bottle or even a case of that crazy good Malbec you tried for the first time without mortgaging your future. This is just the best, most comfortable wine store/bar in the known world that is Eagle Rock and all points beyond!
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing (OK, maybe the air conditioner could be beefed up a little when it gets crowded)

This is my favorite wine tasting spot bar none. The post-modern lounge where the tastings are held is comfortable and slightly darkened as if beckoning a David Lynchian crowd. My favorite time to visit is Sunday afternoon when tastings are $10 for a full flight of 4 or 5 wines, accompanied by Auntie Em's munchies (cheeses, bread, fruit, nuts, the whole she-bang). Of course, if a bigger gathering is your thing, then come on Friday or Saturday evenings when the locals come out in force. Street parking is easy.
You can find gems of affordable reach (under $10) or upper scale selections of distinguished merit. It's all there, just bring your tongue and relax. I have brought friends and they love the place. I have gone stag and met new pals. It is an oasis where learning and lounging co-mingle in celebration of wine. Cheers!
PROS: great wines, nice owners, down-to-earth crowd, good food, hip lounge
CONS: none

Okay it is close to home for me and it is conveniently located on Colorado Blvd. but even if I lived further away I would still make the drive. The shop is small compared to the crowd of regulars so the events and tastings can be cozy. The owners, John and Jen, are both great and very helpful. If you are looking for a quick bottle as a gift or housewarming they are sure to suggest something that will make you look like an all star. Check out their wine for a week 4 packs too. Click on the website link above to sign up for their bi-weekly newsletter or to check out upcoming events.

A godsend to have such a good wine store on your doortep. the staff really knwo their stuff, and though the selection is relatively small they pick out a lot of gems and rotate enough to keep even the most regular customer surprised. A fantastic place to get wine and share your enjoyment of it with other enthusiasts.

This sweet little wine shop just opened last spring and is already enjoying tremendous success-- even though, at this posting, there signage out front is still limited to a small placard. I stumbled into this place by accident-- What? A wine bar? Here? Lemme see... and what a lovely surprise it turned out to be. The owners are more than buffs, but less snotty than afficianados. They just love wine and want to share their love of it with the local community. They seem almost excited when given a challenge (pair something with THIS! A-ha!) They have a tasting bar in back, weekly themed tastings and the art the rotate on their walls is evocative and trippy-- and for sale (they support local artists by exhibiting their wares). Go. Enjoy. See you there.
