I have been going to Saketini for almost 2 years now and they have never failed me. So I knew they would not fail me on Valentine's Day! They had the most amazing set menu and my date and I fully enjoyed it. We definitely did not leave hungry after the five course meal!! I've been there on romantic dates, girls? night out and just hanging out with a group of friends... Their cuisine is authentic japanese-korean fusion with a flare of Californian familiarity to it. Very good and exotic flavors...The food is amazing!! I'm not a big drinker but their saketinis are definitely something to explore... They always have prompt seating and rapid, knowledgeable wait staff! They did change the decor a little bit when I went there on Valentine's day... They took down their paper shade decoration in the front so the chef can look out the window to see the restaurant. I think that was a bad move... The restaurant loses it's ambiance and mood with the bright blinding light coming from the kitchen. Not to mention you can see the take-out containers and baskets in the window... Probably not a good move. However, this restaurant is worth checking out!
Pros: Great food, amazing value and fantastic for all occasions
Cons: the ambience is lacking due to practicality

A wonderful small restaurant I used to walk to for dinner, when I lived in West L.A. Very fresh sushi. You can talk with the chefs at the sushi bar, or settle in for a while with a book or a companion at one of the small tables that line the walls. Either way, no feeling of hurry. Also, the presentation is beautiful - the array of food on your plate is a work of art in itself.

I visit UZEN three times a week. Unlike other typical Japanese Sushi bar, Masa and other Sushi chef has no "grumpiness," and I appreciate the simple comforts of eating out. If you looked for culinary diversity in Sushi, UZEN is the best place to go.

it's not fancy, not trendy ...but hands-down the best (and most reasonably priced) sushi in Brentwood! I recommend sitting at the Sushi bar. It's a great way to venture beyond the spicy tuna roll and explore great treats like Spanish mackerel fresh from Japan, plus we always have the best time chatting with the sushi chef's!
Pros: great sushi bar, great price,
Cons: interior design is a little outdated

We went there for a lunch and had a good time and a great meal. Have the person behind the counter create the dipping sauce for you. It made the food so much more tastier!
Pros: Fun Shabu Shabu Experience

I am addicted to this place - the fish is so fresh and the rice is really special. Never had anything like it anywhere else, and I goto a lot of sushi places in the US and internationally. It is very traditional, so no californial rolls - and the chef likes to serve you what he's picked out - but it's worth it. He always knows what I want and like - and after you get to know him, he's a treat to watch and converse with. A very talented master chef. Definitely sit at the sushi bar if you can. Enjoy!
Pros: Sushi you can trust. Healthy, safe and hand-picked for freshness.
Cons: There is no menu, so be prepared to ask questions and try what the Chef prepares.

I've been here a ton of times, and I always get the spicy egg drop ramen. The soup is like the chinese egg-drop soup, but with spice! I prefer that to the original miso-soup ramen. There's a small parking lot in the back. you should note the place isn't open on Wednesdays.
Pros: good ramen
Cons: small place

I have traveled to Japan extensively and have been a fan of Japanese cuisine for over 40 years. This is quite simply my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. The food is made from exquisite ingredients, prepared with great love and expertise. I could eat the Chef's Omakase nearly every night of the week -- if I could afford it.
Pros: quality; service; authenticity
Cons: not specialized in California-style sushi rolls

I found my 'new' favorite local sushi hangout. I was just driving by looking for somewhere to eat and spotted this hidden gem. The decor of the place carries a hip and trendy feel. And the staff greeted me right when I walked in. I felt very comfortable right away! The food presentation was amazingly artistic. Everything looked like artwork and tasted even better that it looked. The sushi was melting in my mouth and their rolls had me ordering more and more. Overall a great experience here and I would recommend it to my friends and family. Friendly atmosphere and excellent service. Would definitely go back again and again.
Pros: Cozy feel without all the crowds.

I have been to Yabu on pico so many times. What I like about Yabu is their authentic dishes for reasonable prices. They have variety of foods including vegetarian dishes, so its a perfect place for families and friends.
Actually I was at Yabu when this rude guy (the previous reviewer 2 below) had a big argument with the sushi chef. I don't know how that happened, but apperantly he didn't like the fish he ordered. When you order something, and if you didn't like the dish, maybe you can ask nicely to change with something else. But just to ask this is already rude, but it is acceptable if you ask nicely. But this guy stood up and walked to the chef and yelled at the chef 'this is terrible! im not gonna pay for this!'. Wow, all the customers there were like 'omg, what the...?', and his wife was trying to stop him, and crying from embarassing. And yeah, he was saying he was gonna write about this on the internet, and here I found it. haha
Anyways, I am big fan of Yabu, and so are my family and friends. Yabu is great. If you wanna enjoy authntic quality Japanese food, then go to Yabu.
